Hi did this to my 756 model, it too turned my screen grey with Philips Loewe systems on it but it still played R1 discs (not R2s) and all functions OK.
You need to try the `All 4 One` remote hack it worked for me....

I have heard that they are not supposed to last very long ? But would do some surious homework before make the deal....
