About this user: Tom Gray - System Architect and DVD Reviewer
When not staring goggle-eyed at a 32" Widescreen Sony watching the latest DVDs, I can be found staring goggle-eyed at a 17" Iiyama monitor at one of Northern Ireland`s leading IT Solutions companies. In the IT, sphere my main interests are RDBMS and Web architecture and security.
My taste in movies is fairly broad. I am equally happy watching a Hollywood action spectacular or a small foreign film. That said, most of my DVD purchases tend towards the spectacular to make the most of my home cinema setup.
This is:
32" Sony TV
Fergusson FV 98 video (used primarily now for the Buffy box sets)
Sony STR DB930 amp
Pioneer 505 DVD player
an occasionally used Mico (bought for its DTS and mp3 capabilities)
and various makes of speakers scattered throught the room which my long-suffering wife barely tolerates

RE: DVD Reviewer in the press - can you help us??
A small screenshot of the Region Hacks forum is in the June issue of "It`s On DVD" (Page 19). No URL or other reference - just the picture.

Woolies Bargain
If you are more interested in the little shiny DVD disks than the (often naff) packaging, there might be a few bargains to be had in Woolworths - at least, if Belfast is anything to go by.
The Belfast store is selling (about 200) coverless disks for £4.99 each. You just get a cardboard sleeve with a big £4.99 label covering the opening.
Loads of good disks too. As a sample, I saw Alien, Aliens, Jaws, Entrapment, Jurassic Park, Star Treks, loads of Bonds etc.
Worth a look.
RE: Is there anywhere in northern ireland where i can upgrade my player?
Although I haven`t used them myself, The Flicks in Bangor come highly recommended. Check them out at http://www.theflicks.co.uk/

RE: Vivastar 80 min CD-R Problems!
Funnily enough, I have just burned one tonight (I bought a batch from buy.com). It was burned 12x on my TDK CyClone. And plays fine on my Marantz CD and in the car.
There doesn`t appear to be a fundamental problem. Maybe you got a bad batch?
RE: Problems with dvdboxoffice
Don`t worry about your DVDBoxOffice disks. I had 5 outstanding going back 3 weeks. They all arrived today, including Pitch Black. There has probably been a bottleneck somewhere and it looks like it has been cleared.
