Which AV amp

I am looking at purchasing an AV amp to accompany my Pioneer DV444 player and panasonic 32"ws tv. My maximum budget is £500 for speakers and amp. The room I shall be using it in is only about14` by 16`.
Idealy the amp should also incorperate a receiver, have DTS etc, also is Dolby Pro-logic 2 worth considering?
The amps I am currently considering are the Denon AVR-1602 (£299)and the Pioneer VSX-C300 which is designed to accompany the DV444 (£259), although I havn`t been able to find any reports for the pioneer model. I havn`t a clue about what speakers to go for. Is there any systems that might be worth considering? I have seen plenty of reccomendations for the Yamaha VS-10.
Any help/advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Bryn

Pioneer cross channel interference

I have recently purchased a Pioneer DV-444 player, I have this connected to a panasonic TX32 WS TV via a scart lead. The player is set to RGB output but when the player is turned on, all the usual channels, BBC etc, are unwatchable due to the output from the dvd player being clearly visible on these channels. Everything else is fine ie excellent picture quality from the dvd via the scart plug and all terrestrial channels are fine when the dvd is turned off. Is any body able to offer any advice?

Cheers Bryn
