12 Bit Video decoding

I notice the latest dvd players have 12 bit as opposed to 10 bit video decoding .
Does this mean a better picture??

You can get an external tool for this older tosh for 25 dabs(or you could get a pacific from asda that plays everything for £35)

Progressive Scan

Anyone Know of a player that produces prog. scan thru It`s scart like the Compacks 5000 (which seems to be sold out at Safeway!)

That Compacks 5000 dvdplayer that you were raving about.It gives Prog. Scan thru its scart so does this mean it will work with my Thomson rear projection tv which produces prog scan but doesn`t have component video inputs

I have a Thomson rear projector tv which has progressive scan but no component inputs.I note that the Compacks5000 can provide prog. scan thru the scart lead.Would this work?? and do any other dvds provide this facility since I believe the compacks is as rare as hens teeth at the moment.
