RE: AIWA 370 & SVCD

Thanks Jezebabe!.

That`s a great shame, as the majority of 3rd generation players work with SVCD`s! Oh well.....and l really liked the look of the AIWA!. :-0

RE: AIWA 370 & SVCD

I was on the verge of buying one today (from Comet), but I held of because I have a few SVCD`s and I would be gutted if the AIWA did not work with them. Comet have a crap returns policy, so I can`t even buy one and return it if it doesn`t work.

Has anyone tried an SVCD yet?.

RE: AIWA 370 & SVCD

Get an AVI that is reasonable quality, download TMPGENC, re-encode using the SVCD profile (provided with TMPGENC). Then use Nero - Burning ROM to generate a compliant SVCD using the MPG that was generated with TMPGENC.

Check out http://www.vcdhelper.com/ .You can find links to TMPGENC, and also help on how to create a SVCD. Good site!

AIWA 370 & SVCD

Does the Aiwa support SVCD?

The other question. Does it support DTS?

Nobody has mentioned these features before!

RE: Scan SC-2000

I have, however I was refering to technical information about the state of the video signals, such as chroma crosstalk values, frequency response (for both CVBS and s-video).

I have a huge screen at home, and if the player suffers from colour bleed on the S-VIDEO signal, then I will most definitely see it (unless I use RGB, problem is all sockets are taken).

Scan`s site provides the minimal amount of info in terms of the players technical specs, but the player is based around ESS tech`s video encoding processor, which is very fast, and offers good features.

Maybe I should just get one and see.

Scan SC-2000

I`ve heard great things about the Scan player, but nobody has really talked about the video quality outputs from S-VIDEO, composite or RGB.

I bought the Wharfedale because of the video output quality, but if the Scan is comparable, then I`ll take the Wharfedale back to Tesco and get a refund (I don`t like to speed of the machine, too slow!).

Does anyone have an idea?. Any video benchmarks for this player?. Any magazine reviews?
