RE: Problems with Scan sc2000

Thanks DVD Reviewer. Its nice that our comments are passed on.

Of course, fixing them would be even better. Will SCAN replace these players with "switching, pixellisation and subtitles" problems or will this just be a bonus for anyone who will buy a future batch? (and judging by the posts here I don`t think many people will buy them).

I`ll keep watching here and hope that Scan will reply. At least they know they have a problem.

RE: Problems with Scan sc2000

Access the secret menu
Setup, Title, Step, Next (as per removing region coding)
Macrovision is now an on/off option.

RE: Problems with Scan sc2000

Got my replacement Scan today
First the good news.
The RGB is fixed
Other good news: Macrovision can now be disabled!
Bad news: The player automatically sets subtitles on, even when set to none!. Ok, so you can turn them off from the remote, but still!
Is this 2 steps forward, one step back??
Off to test the quality of the picture now...

RE: Hack for Daewoo DHC-2200K

Isn`t this the same machine as the Scan SC2000?

Check out the review on this site. The multi region hack is in there.

RE: Problems with Scan sc2000

Spoke to Scan today
They`ll exchange my player either tomorrow or Wednesday
Hopefully for one with an RGB out this time!

Will confirm once the replacement`s been tested...

And no, they`re not charging me (at least I hope not)

RE: Problems with Scan sc2000

I`ve checked various DVD newsgroups. It seems several of the new batch of SC 2000`s have screwed SCART connectors that will not switch to RGB. I tried the player on a friends Sony Wega TV and that would not switch to RGB either. I`m calling Scan tomorrow to send my player back, although I`ve read i may have to wait awhile before a new delivery is forthcoming. The S-Video is ok, bit my TV accepts RGB so why not use it?. Apart from that fact, I think its a good buy.

RE: Problems with Scan sc2000

I`m using the S-Video out on the DVD Player into the S-Video in on the TV. The picture through the scart is very poor. Changing the player output between Composite and RGB makes no difference. I have checked that the Scart socket on the TV supports RGB, and also used several Scart leads in case that was the problem. I notice from newsgroup threads that there are RGB problems with the new shipment from Scan. I guess i`ll try the player on a friends Sony TV which I can force into RGB. Othewise its back to Scan.
Oh, I tried another MP3 disk and its fine. Must be iffy media!
Still, I was expecting a better quality picture than my old DXR2 decoder card.

Problems with Scan sc2000

Just taken delivery of my Scan
Generally very happy, but have found a few niggly problems.
It plays an MP3 disc I have quite happily while the machine is cool. If I try and play the disc after the machine has been on a while and has heated up (after watching a movie for instance) the disc will not play and won`t recognise. Anyone else suffered this. The unit does get quite hot. Is this unusual?
Secondly, I`ve noticed quite a few artifacts on a couple of movies i`ve watched, almost like shimmering ares in the background. I used to play DVD`s on a PC wired through my Sony STRDB925 and Thomson 32 inch screen, and never seemed to notice these.
Any clues?

Thanks
Rob
