youre correctomundo stevie - chris from techtronics replied stating the upgrade was a software upgrade.
Sandra - link online`s paragon upgrade may also be software - will advise of their response.
multiregionmagic are a firmware upgrade also.
just going to the retailer forum to check out techtronics -

hopefully that is the case stevie
after reading the info on both link online and techtronics sites i interpreted these upgrades to be chips.
i have emailed both link online and techtrocincs asking if their upgrades are chipped or firmware.
i`ll update thread with response of techtronics and linkonline.

i checked out linkonline - the paragon upgrade is a chip - i would prefer to go with a firmware upgrade if possible.
techtronics are doing the 444 for 169 - but its a chip upgrade.

after much reading on thi forum and other sites i have decided to plump for the pioneer 444 because of its qui;it of picture, sound, build and reviews on this forum and other sites.
I read these 444`s can be modified using a firmware upgrade rather than a chip - please advise of anywhere that does this.

Im trying to decide on which dvd player to buy - I am trying to research the pioneer dv-444, dv-535 and dv545 -
I would like to know which is the most recent model and the differences between them - advice or a website reference would be most helpfull.

nw to dvd land - bought an Accoustic Solutions from Richer Sounds and got green picture - all over - refunded no problem.
Now in the market for a good multi region all rounder -
RS advertising a pioneer dv340/343 for £149.95
and a Toshiba sd210e for £199.95 - both multi region.
Is it the Tosh ot the Pioneer that is noisy?

have recently returned faulty acoustic solutions dvd to Richer Sounds - refunded no bother.
RS advertise a multi region pioneer dv340/343 for £149.99
and a multi region toshiba sd210e for £199.95
have read in some of the postings that the pioneer can be noisy - any confirmation of this ?
Would appreciate any alternative recommendations.
