RE: Help! I can`t access Ebay site.

Hi, Rob.

Thanks for your help...but as quickly as the problem arose, it has now disappeared. I haven`t done anything differently, but all appears to be fine again.

Thanks for your help with this.

Cheers

RE: Help! I can`t access Ebay site.

Hi, Rob.

I get something similar, but it says "sever: api.home".

Is that normal?

Hi, Rob.

None of the options were ticked in the LAN settings so I ticked the `automatically detect settings`, but it made no difference.

I`m running Zone Alarm & AVG.

Hi, mate.

How are you and the family?

Yep, cleared the temporary internet files etc., but it just won`t have it for some reason.

Hi, Admars.

It won`t let me go via the links either. I`ve disabled the ZA toolbar etc., but still no joy...it is the same with Firefox too.

Help! I can`t access Ebay site.

Hi.

As of yesterday I am unable to get Ebay to load at all. I get the server not found message, which is the same for the .co.uk & .com adresses. However, I can access .com.au for some reason.

I seem to be able to access other sites without any issues.

Any ideas, apart from moving to Aus?

Power Supply for HP550 Laptop?

Hi.

I have a HP550 laptop and the power supply cable appears to have a break in the wire right where it connects to the plug that plugs into the laptop. I`ve moved the cable around in that area and the power goes on and off.

So, could anyone please point me to a good retailer that sells a compatible power supply?

Cheers

RE: A good video converter (dvd to iPod etc.)?

Thanks, xfg.

However, I now have the problem that iTunes constantly freezes. I too have Vista, but I just cannot sort this problem at all. I can get iTunes to see the iPod, but it freezes when I try to do anything with it.

I`m so peeved with this - iTunes is utter cr*p!

A good video converter (dvd to iPod etc.)?

Hi.

Can anyone recommend a good video converter? I`m looking for something that can convert from dvd to iPod, generally, but anything that does extra will be welcome.

I`ve used the usual suspects regarding dvd to dvd etc., but now I`m looking for something that will also allow files to be converted for the iPod Touch.

Obviously, I`m looking for something free(;-)). I used Super a couple of years ago - is that still a good recommendation? Or are there better nowadays?

Cheers.

RE: Telephone scam from a supposed pc tech company?

That I am not sure of...I may have just shot myself in the foot! :/

That`ll teach me to try and be clever! :o

Telephone scam from a supposed pc tech company?

I`ve just received a call from a supposed pc tech company that knew that I was using XP (even though I`m not), so I decided to go along with it for a while.

The guy, who sounded like he was from India, then insisted that I could have terrible viruses, and corrupt motherboards etc., which I didn`t know about, and asked if I had internet connection etc. I told him that it was doubtful that I had something so dreadful silently affecting my pc.

He then wanted to know what company I used to maintain the pc, to which I responded that I did it myself. He then asked if I was a technician. I told him I wasn`t, but I knew enough about computers to know that everything was fine with my pc. He insisted that I didn`t and that I should go to the pc and follow his directions in order to help me rid my computer of these unknown terrors.

I told him that I didn`t have my pc as my family member has borrowed it for a few days. He then persisted to try and arrange another time when my pc would be available so that he could call again to help me. I informed him that I didn`t know when that would be and he finally tired and buggered off.

I wish I`d gone a little further with this to see exactly what he was up to. He was obviously up to no good, and I would imagine it would`ve only been a matter of time before he asked me to download a file, or part with my credit card details.

Has anyone else experienced similar?

Recommend me a laptop.

Hi.

I`m considering purchasing a laptop, and would like a little advice. I basically use the pc for web browsing, burning dvds/cds etc. I don`t download films, or play online games etc, so I figure I need anything too powerful...but I still want the `best bang for my buck`...so to speak.

I`ve taken a look on Ebuyer and they appear to have some decent deals. I`ve got a budget of approx. £400.00.

Cheers

I can relate to that!

I often wake up in the night and both my arms are completely dead. My poor wife has lost count the number of times I have woken her, and she always ends up rubbing them (ooer, missus :p ) in order to get the circulation back. It`s quite weird when both your arms are like this and you can`t even use them to move yourself or roll over. :/

In the past, I`ve even woken up with half of my head numb! (:¦

RE: Badboybez...Metallica info

Yeah, it was ok via Paypal!

Glad I downloaded it, great listening to James singing out of tune! :p

I also dowloaded the artwork and had them printed (I have no printer), and the double cd looks cool. Just wish I had a cd printer so I could print the artwork onto the cds. They do have stickers on, but printed cds would seal it off nicely.

Great souvenir!

Anybody tried to download the Sheffield MP3 from `www.livemetallica.com`? Every time I try it says -

"Your transaction could not be processed. Please make sure to enter your correct billing information".

Yet, all my information is correct!

RE: Badboybez...Metallica info

Sheffield was amazing. Superb set list, and the band excelled!.

This was the 14th time I`ve seen them and it ranks up there with the top 5 Metallica performances. I`ve seen them on occasions where they appeared to `go through the motions`...but not last night.

After seeing them at the O2 last year, they appeared to be on the right track.

My son absolutley loved it...and is still in bed, completely exhausted! :D However, he was so upset he didn`t get a `beach ball`...and waited until he got to the car before he cried. He was absolutely gutted. He`s already talking about the next time Metallica tour! :D

I hope you all had as good a night as us!

Update: Oh blimey, my son has just got out of bed and asked me if we can go and see them again tonight! :/

RE: Badboybez...Metallica info

Hi, Nick.

I`ll not be there until approx. 8.00 - 8.30 because I`m taking my son. He absolutley loves music, but I still can`t expect him to sit through three bands...he is four afterall! ;)

According to the Arena website, the times are as follows...

Timings for Metallica are as follows (timings are intended as a guide only and may be subject to change):

1800 hrs Doors open
1900 hrs The Sword
1945 hrs Machine Head
2100 hrs Metallica
2300 hrs Event ends

...which fits in with what others have said regarding Notts & Manc. I just hope we get the same set list as Manchester.

Are you getting there for `The Sword`?

"Stan is my best friend at Church"

RE: Badboybez...Metallica info

May be they`re alternating the set list, which would mean that we`ll get the Nott one tonight.

RE: Badboybez...Metallica info

If the `net is to be believed, the Manc set list is a lot better than the Nottingham one. Just hope we get a good `un tomorrow night!

I`ll be there again...with my 4yr old son. This`ll be the 2nd time he`s seen them in the last six months.

It`s 23 years, this year, since I first saw them (Sheff City Hall)...damn, I feel old!

Here`s an easy one I did last year. Unfortunately, I don`t have `PS` on this computer at the moment. I`ll get around to installing everything again, and have a play with your pic.

RE: Top 10 movies of 2008

`Rambo` was fun! :D

As was `Hellboy II`.

Huge Romero fan, but `Dire-y of the Dead` was awful.

Tried watching `Dark Knight` twice now, and fell asleep on both occcasions.

Haven`t seen `Wall-E` all the way through, but what I saw didn`t appear to be the same film everyone is raving about. :¦

And, `Iron Man` was ok (what I remember), but I have to admit that my attention was not fully on the film, due to new-born twins etc. It`s on my list to watch again.

Base Unit?

Hi.

I`m in the market for a base unit, and I am looking for some recommendations. I generally use my pc for surfing, dvd/cd burning, home video editing etc.

Ideally, I would prefer a unit with, dvd-rw drive, card reader, firewire port etc., and obvously as fast a processor/big hard drive/memory etc. as possible.

That said, I do have a budget of approx. £350.00, so I know I`m limited. I`d love the space-saving portability of a laptop, but I want as much bang for my buck as possible.

Cheers

People who think it`s completely acceptable to let their dogs and cats crap anywhere apart from on their own premises.

I`d shoot the lot of `em!

I`ve noticed the `C word` has been used alot in this thread.
