RE: New Harry Potter - Faulty Discs?

A couple of more data points from my Asda sourced Discs:

iMac (LCD) DVD-RW, OS X10.2.5: Disc 1 & 2 All OK.

Same DVD discs now in a Scan 2500 player: Disc 1 OK Disc 2 NOT OK: "English" does not work. Cannot get a white cursor to make menu choices beyond the first menu.

However this is weird: Select "English/Arabic" on the Scan player at the start of the 2nd disc and it all seems to work, and all in English (but with small Arabic subtitles no great problem). Kind of like they thought they were on dodgy ground with some of the `standards` used in the games etc and put two slightly differing versions on the disc to cover more players. So if your disc 2 does not work try the "English/Arabic" option at the start.

So some odd stuff going on on disc 2?. I don`t think it is faulty disc batches just stretching the format a bit. Lets face it DVD `games` are a bit .... err ... well crap basically.

Can you comment on the build quality?
They look a bit plasticy. (yeah I know thats cos they are plastic)

Also on the manf. website they look a bit iffy, maybe it is the curvey
silvery stands. Can they be detatched?

Not exactly the reply you wanted but...

Pink Floyd the Wall DVD has a special sound setup `extra`
that may well do this. I don`t have it yet (on order)
so I can`t comment further.

Seriously though.
I drove to Bolton and bought my SC2500 three weeks ago.

After reading all the "I hate Scan `cos me father always hated `em and his father...."
I was expecting to get home and find some sort of problem with this unit.

No problems. Works a treat. So who do I complain to to get me whingers club
money back? my experience is a based on a sample size of one unit.
No doubt there are units out there that don`t work and if it was me I would be livid.
But why go on and on and on...... report your gripes once.

There are updates, I have them on CD but I haven`t even bothered to load them yet.

Buy anything high-tech these days there will be something SOMEONE SOMEWHERE will whinge about.

Customer service? Well like I said, I went to the showroom to buy and I had to queue.
It took a while to be served. But hey the place was busy. that says something No?
