Thanks for that. I didn`t actually buy it, I got sent it as a replacement for my "broken" MR player, hence my disappointment. I`ll get back to the supplier & point out there is a MR version.

Just got sent one of these s***e players. Not Multi Region!! Anyone know of a crack? I might send it back & just get a £30 job from Asda!

Macrovision Hack for Yamada 6100 DVX

Just bought a Yamada DVX 6100 DVD player.

Plays Divx CD`s great as well as all other formats, BUT I want to turn off Macrovision as I wish to redistribute the output via a UHF signal via my VCR (so my kids can watch their DVD`s on their bedroom TV`s).

Does anyone know how to disable Macrovision on this box?

I`ve got the Mustek 520 version of this player and I can confirm that the Macrovision Hack (4001 changed to 4000) DOES NOT WORK.

I`ve also got the Mustek 56S player and the Macrovision Hack (4001 to 4000) DOES work.

Weird but true. Does anyone know if there are different firmware versions for the 520 player, if so can they be flash upgraded?

Format a floppy disk with the system files on. Copy onto the floppy the files which enable you to flash your drive. Reboot the PC from the floppy disk, your PC will be running in full dos mode.

From a command prompt (or dos box/session) within windows type FORMAT A:/S to manually format a floppy. You can just use Windows explorer and do a right hand click on your drive A: icon and then select format, but make sure you select to transfer the system files.

To enable Multi-Region Capability:
With no disc in the player, on the remote press:

Setup

Press next
Press previous
Press next
Press previous

Select region 255 using direction keys (Left or Right)

Press Setup again to exit and the region free feature is enabled.

Macrovision Hack for Mustek V520

Anyone know of a hack to disable the Macrovision playback on a Mustek V520 player. The Multi region Hack works fine on this box I`m just trying to disable the Macrovision.

Try the Samsung 709 hack. It`s a similar age to that product and may work.

RE: Mustek V520

The Mustek is a great player and an excellent price (about £84 I think). It`s fully multiregion & has a selectable colour standard output (NTSC disc but the player output PAL).

It also plays CDR CDRW media including MP3 files & VCD.

The size it great, really small & compact footprint unlike most players which are really mainly empty metal boxes.

The only missing feature (so far that is), is that the multi region hack doesn`t disable Macrovision. If it had that it would be the perfect player.

I`d rate it 9.5 out of 10
