Thanks for your help, but i think the firmware revision of my player is outdated as there is nothing displayed on the lcd apart from no disc warning, if you have any further suggestions i am more than willing to try them out.

I have tried your suggestions above but still my player is not responding the tv screen remains with the dvd logo. It would be very much appreciated if you could help me with this problem.
