RE: Another Philips progressive scan problem
If it`s the same as my Philips 9975 LCD the the plasma will only accept progressive and not component. Had the same problem connecting a Tosh 330 player, ended up buying a Pioneer 575 which works fine. I did have a problem with the geometry when the progressive picture was first displayed as it was seriously off centre. Thought it was the DVD player but you actually adjust this through the cursor on the TV remote. Suprisingly this isnt mentioned anywhere in the Philips TV manual.

RE: Umax DVD Player inc. 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System £83.55 inc VAT
Unfortunately I`ve haven`t got any KODAK photo cd`s to test. The model delivered was baged as a Yamada 2100.No doubt later posts will confirm if this is a fault with the player but as you rightly point out it is supposed to play them.
RE: Umax DVD Player inc. 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System £83.55 inc VAT
Delivered today, seems to be working fine.Bought it for my for my daughters bedroom so the speaker package is more than adequate .Plays vcd ,svcd , cdr no problem.Another bonus is that it plays CDG disks
RE: tatung tdv 5100
Should be the same as Decca 5110 , Decca 2110 , Dansai etc
Via handset
Set up , stop , previous ( I<< ), next (>>I )
As the remote buttons are notoriously fickle each button should be tapped once very lightly otherwise the hack won` t work
RE: Decca DDV 5100
Tried this more times than I would like to admit to ,cold start etc default settings basically given up.Remote works fine.Has anyone else experienced difficulties. Is it a case of there being a firmware/model update. As everything else works fine I havent a clue !
Part two
Finally accessed factory settings;
Default settings only
Power up via unit not handset
Set up via button on unit
Stop, previous, forward in repeat rotation via remote.Menu appeared after 3 or 4 attempts
Dont know if the problems were down to a dodgy remote.
4 days of trying is not an experience I,d recommend to anyone

Decca DDV 5100
Purchased one from Powerhouse today.Tried hacks with no joy however the Decca is macro free from the box.Just select video via the v-mode button on the remote, copies perfectly. No joy re region free.Warning, mine came with a scart lead which didnt support RGB dont know whether it was just faulty Changed it and the difference was exceptional.Appers to do all is says on the box and more.Pity about the region code.

RE: DECCAVIDEO DVD5100 REQUIRE REGION HACK PLEASE
Having had the same problem initially ie hacks listed didnt work it appears that the Decca is macro free straight out of the box.Just select video via the v-mode button on the remote. This then enables recording straight to video. One other word of warning my scart lead which was included didnt support RGB.Could of been faulty.
