Tredex 3050
Has anyone tried running the download/hack to get the Tredex 3050 to play VCDs. The hack is a ROM upgrade downloadable from tredex.com. Does it work or does it bugger up the DVD player?
RE: I need the truth on NTSC, R1, SCART connections and the rest
I can`t add anything to the technical stuff in the other reply but I`ve got a Tosh 220 connected to an old Philips TV (but not the same model as yours). The DVD is connected via a good quality scart cable to the RGB scart on the TV. The Tosh is Multi Region and yes it plays R1 discs. The TV does not support NTSC. The Tosh outputs NTSC as PAL 50 but not PAL. R1 discs play in colour although there is some minor disruption to the picture - faint wavy lines - but this is hardly noticeable unless the backgound picture is clear e.g. a sky shot. Make sure you use the correct scart socket on your TV as on some older Philips models only one of the two scarts is RGB (normally the one marked EXT1).
RE: Spiderman R2 and Toshiba SD220
A Fantastic film. Can`t wait for Daredevil now.
RE: Spiderman R2 and Toshiba SD220
Thanks to atc1344 and gingerone. I swapped the Spiderman DVD and the new copy played OK with no problems so yes it was a duff pressing.I initially thought it may have been a problem with the Toshiba SD220 remembering the problems with the Matrix when I had to get Toshiba to swap the model with upgraded firmware. Strange that it played OK on the laptop though. Panic over.
Spiderman R2 and Toshiba SD220
Anyone else had any problems playing Spiderman R2 on a Toshiba SD220. In Chapter 22 at 1Hr 17min 04sec the picture freezes (the mugging scene just as the camera pans back to MJ). I think this may be a dual layer problem but instead of just a brief pause the DVD stops totally and the only way to proceed is to skip the chapter and then rewind back to just after the initial pause. I`ve tried playing the DVD on my laptop and it goes through OK with just a slight pause so I think it might be the DVD player.
RE: Toshiba SD220E & The Matrix issues
Apparently this is a firmware problem . Toshiba have told me that the firmware being fitted in the factory has been changed to rectify the problem.
I assume this means that any new players shipped from the factory will be OK but if you`re stuck with one of the earlier shipped models you will probably need to contact your retailer to either get it swapped or get the firmware upgraded.
