There`s a firmware hack on my site which makes your Philips 955 capable of playing region 1 and 2 without changing regions anymore. The hack is too complicated to describe here, so I suggest you take a look at www.dvdinfosite.com.

RE: Hack for Harmon Kardon DVD-1

There`s a hack on my site (www.dvdinfosite.com). Here`s the hack:

Put the player in standby
Press on your remote 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9 and 2
Then press the region you want. You may only select regions 1 to 4.
The player will turn itself on
Press open and put the disc you want to play in the tray
