RE: Anyone know where you can get firmware upgrades for Oritrons?
Thanks for the info, any idea where they might be downloadable from? I`ve had a look for firmware upgrades on the Net, but I haven`t had any luck so far with oritron players.
Anyone know where you can get firmware upgrades for Oritrons?
I know that Oritron aren`t well supported in this country, but does anyone have a source for firmware upgrades for Oritron DVD players, if they are available at all?
Oritron 100
I got one of these a few months ago and basically its packed up. Any disk you put in it tries to read for a couple of minutes and then insists its not a valid disk. Sometimes it will finally play the thing after 6 or 7 attempts, but you can`t rely on it to play it all the way though without crashing. Worse of all I`ve only used it about a dozen times.
I have checked out this player on a couple of American consumer sites and a lot of people have had trouble with them breaking after only a few months. The consensus of opinion is that over heating is the reason they fail. Don`t know if this is true, but is about the only thing you can do something about if you`ve got one and you want to extend its life. If you have one try to keep it cool, don`t let it sit on standby all the time, turn it off at the wall. Also don`t stack it with a VCR or Satellite decoder as this may also contribute to over heating.
I got mine from Big W for £90, its going back there soon.
