RE: Get 1 Years WebHosting with 2 FREE domain names and more and get PAID £4.64 !!

I can`t remember my rpoints login detail as i never use them. What is the link? (can`t be bothered witht he £10 or rpoints anyway, but might be interested in the offer).

RE: V for Vendetta £7.99

erm.. where was the spouting poetry in the Matrix again?

Where was the guy in the mask?

Where was the totalitarian british government using the threat of immigration and terrorism to control the people?

Where were the chat shows?

And i didn`t notice too many machines, AIs, alternate realities, leather outfits or bullet-time kung-fu gunfights in V either.

V is basically Guy Fawkes meets 1984. It isn`t remotely liek the matrix.. and if it wasn`t directed by the same people then no-one would be making such ludicrous assertions. Might as well say V is just like Bound because it has two people trying tou outwit a bigger organisation.

Heck.. V isn`t even an action film.. whereas the Matrix most certainly is.

RE: V for Vendetta £7.99

It was nothing like the matrix.. and it was most certainly better.

RE: WHATS HAPPENED TO ALL THE BARGAINS THERE USED TO BE ON THIS SITE??

there was a release of firefox a while back that had a nasty memory leak.. i think that might have put a few people off. But they fixed that pretty quick. If you have lots of extensions then its still possible that some might have memory leaks.. but apart from that one version i`ve had no problems.

If you think firefox is too bloated then i`d recommend Opera.. the new versions of opera are much nicer "out of the box" than ie (obviously) and firefox.. plus really lightweight. However once you find a few firefox extensions that you can`t live without its impossible to consider any other browser.

These days you are extremely unlikely to run into any sites that don`t work properly in firefox.. and if you do then they are usually really badly designed sites using activex in a bad way and its a good sign to avoid them anyway..

RE: WHATS HAPPENED TO ALL THE BARGAINS THERE USED TO BE ON THIS SITE??

I`ve been using firefox exclusively for at least 12 months and i can`t think of more than two instances where sites didn`t work properly.. both were badly designed sites andway that i was only visiting after following an interesting link.. so i just didn`t bother.

I only get that questionnaire advert once every session.. at least that is how it seems to me. First thread i click, i always get it. But never again until the next time i start my browser.

As for the bargains, there have been some quite good ones on here recently.. however i think that less and less of them are to do with dvds.. mostly because dvds are getting on a bit, are no longer that expensive, are no longer much better or cheaper abroad, and there are so many well known shops out there that sell them cheap.

It used to be that getting a newish dvd for under £10 from a site half way around the world was a bargain.. now anything over about £5.99 seems expensive.. and prices are dropping so quick. A dvd bargain has got to be pretty impressive these days to make me sit up and take notice.

RE: V for Vendetta £7.99

One of the better films of the last 12 months.. though it has been a sucky 12 months for films..

RE: HMV £5 of £30 spend...

They have the PC version of Oblivion for £14.99 as well. So if you could combing that with something else you`d get a good deal. I ordered it on friday though, just before this £5 off deal appeared. sigh.
I really shouldn`t spend any more money.. but it is tempting..

RE: Superman Collection 9.99 in Virgin Sale!! Get it quick as may be going up*

13, 11 or even 8 discs seems like an insane ammount of overkill.

Reminds me of the Alien Quadrilogy, the Matrix set and the Batman sets... as its a couple of good films.. and then a couple of rubbish ones too.

Though i enjoyed my Quadrilogy (which i got before it tanked in price) i think i`ll do the same as i did with the Batman films and just pick up the first two, and ignore the sequels.
(though superman 3 isn`t too bad...)

RE: targa notebook at lidl.

One thing to be aware of on these cheap (but perfectly good) laptops is that the majority of them have intel 900 or 950 integrated graphics cards.

Now these are SUPPOSED to work with the Aero Skin of windows vista, but word from the beta testers is that they don`t. So if you want to run vista at any point in the future, with all its Mac-style transparencies, 3d windows and other whizzy bits then you`ll probably need a laptop with at least an ATI Radeon integrated graphics card (X200M or better).

Still, for XP they are fine, and you can always run Vista in XP mode.

PS/ There is a £449 Advent Laptop at pc world that looks quite nice.. but i haven`t looked into it in detail.

RE: Woolworths sale

wouldn`t be too excited about the laptop.. its been that price for a while.

The PRICE CRASH is only on entertainment.. but the still have their ordinary sale going on too.

The Bravery CD for £2 isn`t bad though. Didn`t see an other outstanding bargains, but there are a number of cheap, ok films and kids films. The stuff in the shop seemed exactly the same as the stuff on the web site.

RE: Hellboy 3 disc extended edition

excellent. Can`t remember if i saw this here or somewhere else, but i arrived yesterday. Now i just need to find time to watch it and see if the director`s cut improve an alread good film..

RE: Nintendo DS Lite £75.90

this has been around for a while now, but the exchange rate on the site is wrong... if i remember rightly from a few weeks back it works out more like £83 once you use the correct exchange rate.

RE: VOIP Phone Bargain...Less than £6..

I could be totally wrong abot this, but i get the impressin that a USB handset is a better option.

I have a friend with a USB handset, and when they pick it up it automaticaly opens skype, and a few othe cool features, etc... this £6 one only mentions being connected via the line in/out audio sockets.. which i`d guess would mean it doesn`t have anywhere near that functionality.

But someone who actually has VOIP might be able to she more light on how these thigs work.

RE: Superman Collection 9.99 in Virgin Sale!! Get it quick as may be going up*

I think there is supposed to be a new set coming out to cooincide with the new movie. New special editions and a new cut of superman 2 by the original director.
A bit like they did with the Batman flims once Batman Begins came out.

Still, i thought the transfer on the existing edition of Superman was pretty good so its not a bad deal.

I remember hearing about it a year or so back, so i have no idea if its still on track.

RE: Nintendo DS lite £89.97 at Asda

Think game are doing:
DS lite + 1 game @ £109
DS Lite + 2 games @ £119
games are from a list of about 5 or 6. Metroid and Brain Training were on there, not much else i remember being much good.

[read whole paragraph] dvdstars.com appears to be selling them for £75 BUT as far as i can tell their CURRENCY CONVERTOR is WAY OFF! I reckon it works out at more like £93. But it might be worth looking into it incase i`m wrong on that.

RE: Ray Winstone Box Set - £7.99 Delivered

no Robin of Sherwood??? :( :(

RE: Today (Thursday 8th June) only - 20% off HMV online

Resident evil 4 for gamecube is only £17.99 on the hmv website... though it does say it might take 6 weeks for despatch.

You can`t use this on electronics.. if anyone else`s first thought was to preorder a ds lite... ;)

RE: Star Wars Trilogy - only £16.99!

Be aware that yet another version of star wars dvds is coming out soon.

I don`t think they are realeasing it as a bos set... but as 3 individual 2-disc sets. The big selling point is that they have the original versions of the films on them as well... but early reports indicate that this will be poor quality, unrestored, non-anamporphic dolby 2.0.

I was planning on selling my trilogy box set to get these... but now i`ve kind of gone off the idea.

Can`t say which is best to get.. but its always annoying if you buy a dvd and then next month a version you prefer comes out.

RE: DVDSoon Bought Out by DVDImport

Is there a final verdict on dvdimport yet?
I was going to order something from them.. but the page brought up an error that mentioned dvdsoon so i thought i`d check them out further?

I`m sure i used them a while back (before dvdsoon went down the tubes) and they were ok.

Has buying dvdsoon somehow made them rubbish? Should I use them for a purchase?

RE: SONY W800i 11 MONTHS FREE ON 12 MONTH CONTRACT

Anyone seen any good deals on these kinda phones on any cross network, anytime tariffs?

All the good deals seem to be either on orange (which a can`t port to) or leisure time plus which doesn`t let you call during the day. :-(

RE: DVD.CO.UK - Free £20 Voucher with Screen Select

no problems on my end. Got voucher and used it. God a few dvds in the free month.. went to cancel and got suckered into going for another month for £4.99. Guess two months for 4.99 isn`t too bad.

Currently have Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, but that is going back in a day or two when i finish it.

RE: Nero 7 Premium £5.99 + 3.95 delivery

i saw this at a cheap price last time i was in staples..but a quick look at the box set alarm bells ringing and made me think that they might have messed up a previously cool bit of software... glad i trusted my instincts and didn`t buy it!!

PS/ I think i read somewhere it doesn`t copy copyrighted CDs, which kind of defeats a lot of the point if you want to back anything up..

RE: Free Broadband for life!

I haven`t gone for the Talk Talk deal as i`m still a little suspicious... however i`m sure i read somewhere that you can get something like £30 cashback if you sign up to it through quidco.

I joined quidco a month or so ago, and while i haven`t got any cashback yet they seem like the best of the cashback sites to me.

RE: STONKING Orange contract bargains: Samsung D500 now only £60 over min term (UPDATE)

Had a call from e2save today saying my check was being sent out. I think i may have misjudged e2save and I think that the majority of the problem is down to the Royal Mail website not accurately reporting which recorded delivery items have been delivered. Having different postcodes in different places doesn`t help e2save though.

For info:
- I sent my claim to the newish WS10 7WZ address.
- I didn`t include vouchers or anything as they weren`t part of the original deal.
- I have yet to recieve any text message or anything, though it is still within the 45 days e2save say hey will respond in.
- Royal Mail site is still not showing the delivery, even though it was sent weeks ago.
- I typed in a query on their web site and got a call back about 2 days later.
- I sent the april bill even though the website said march.. as the april one was the 12th one.

Seems to be more of a royal mail problem than an e2save one.. and i gotta say that if i hadn`t paid extra to send it recorded delivery then i`d have had none of this worry and the cheque would just have arrived in a few days without bother.

RE: STONKING Orange contract bargains: Samsung D500 now only £60 over min term (UPDATE)

According to the Royal Mail website mine still hasn`t been delivered either... posted first class 2 weeks ago. Strange how the royal mail seems to be unable to deliver a single claim to this PO Box.

One thing i notice: in their reply to gordyffc they give the postcode as WS10 7JN... but on the web site under your account>offers they give the postcode as WS10 7WZ.. which is where I posted mine to.

I hope they don`t try and wriggle out of paying due to posting the wrong postcode on the web site.

I`d find out more, but lots of their web site doesn`t work in firefox.

RE: DVD.CO.UK - Free £20 Voucher with Screen Select

Just wanted to say that I got my voucher a week or so ago, and have ordered a few dvds from dvd.co.uk that have just been posted. Have had a few dvds from screenselect as well and like their service (though they don`t seem to have many games in stock). I`d keep up with screenselect - but due to personal reasons i won`t need them ver the next month or two so its time to cancel. I might well sign up again once i have more time though.

Excellent bargain all round... and i think it ends on 6th may so it is still open if anyone hasn`t signed up.

RE: STONKING Orange contract bargains: Samsung D500 now only £60 over min term (UPDATE)

Sent the april bill (which was the 12th, no matter what their website says) to the new address a couple of weeks ago. Heard nothing so far.
Maybe i`ll check the post office tracking system if i can dig out the details.

Has anyone who sent it to the new address had a response yet? There is only about 10 days untilt he 30 day limit expires and they can claim i didn`t send it back in time.

RE: Bargain games

As far as i know they are legit. Prism leisure is the dvd company that releases all the bare bones budget dvds. I seem to remember them doing a free dvd offer a few years back and i got a copy of Double Dragon. Which was just as bad as i expected :)

RE: DVD.CO.UK - Free £20 Voucher with Screen Select

I don`t think you can use the DVD.co.uk and the quidco offers at the same time. It might be possible with some fiddling though.

RE: FREE BROADBAND!!! (terms and conditions apply)

I used them a while back for phone calls and found them fine. I`d jump at this broadband offer if it wasn`t for the reported blocks on P2P. Don`t see how anyone without P2P could get close to 40gb a month.

Although it is basically a "Broadband for £10 a month, plus free international calls" offer.
