RE: Philips DVDR-880 not reading disks?

I have the DVDR880 by PHILIPS - Great machine, works fine up to date. Just touching on one of the replies... How do you update the firmware? And alos, will this update effect my "multi-region" which I programmed onto the machine (via remote control)?

Thanks

RE: Anyone bought the Philips DVDR880 Multi-region recently

Hey! Thanks for the info... I have tried the DVD+RW on my Dads Hitachi DVP305 and again it would not play? In the manual of the 880, it does state that you can "make" compatible by holding the "2" key whit the draw open (disc in tray)... If that fails, repeat the feature with the "3" key... I wil ltry later, but the above did not work on my PS2, it may on a "real" DVD player...

Also, just bought the one4all(digital) remote from Argos, item number 534/0521 for £19.99 and this made my 880 "Multiregion". The remote hack section informed you use the "AUX" button, this for me did not work? However, I just used the "VCR" button, and it did the trick...

Thanks :o)

PS: Please help if you can with the playback of the DVD+RW

RE: Anyone bought the Philips DVDR880 Multi-region recently

Hey! Can anybody help... I hope its just me being dumb?! Ok, I recorder a few porgrammes in the EP mode on the 880. I recorded on a DVD+RW disc. However, even though compatible, it wont play on my PS2?! What am I doing wrong, what must I do to make playable on a DVD player/ PS2?

Thanks :o)

RE: Anyone bought the Philips DVDR880 Multi-region recently

Wow! My DVDR880 arrived today, and what a dream it is too! I was just wondering, is it possible to play the DVD+RW on "normal" DVD players too? I recorded the fast show, then put in the PC and my otehr DVD player but no look? The manual only mentions the finalisation of a DVD+R? Any idea`s, please welcome!

RE: Anyone bought the Philips DVDR880 Multi-region recently

Just thought... As you state, you need to use a "one4all" remote etc... Which one? Can I use a one4all "4"... or does it have to be a "6"

RE: Anyone bought the Philips DVDR880 Multi-region recently

Tony - Does this mean then, when my DVDR880 that I made multiregion (via the remote hack) is updated with this disc should I wish to use it, it cold reset or even forbid the multiregion? Can we be guarenteed that out DIY multiregion recorders will be safe from these firmware discs, in terms of keeping them multiregion?

RE: Anyone bought the Philips DVDR880 Multi-region recently

Wow!

I have found a DVDR880 for £449.99 with FREE p&p and FREE 10xDVD+RW discs... Here is the direct link http://www.letsbuyit.com/lbisite/jsp/product/category_prod.jsp?

RE: Anyone bought the Philips DVDR880 Multi-region recently

Thanks "Tony"... Am off to the shops tomorrow to get it! I was interested with your comments regards the firmware update disc. What is that and what does it do?

Thanks,

RE: Anyone bought the Philips DVDR880 Multi-region recently

Hey, Am a new member, and was unsure what DVDR880 to get. A £399 Region 2, or a £439 Multi region. When I saw your above comments, I was amazed! Does the "hack" really work. My main concern is:

(1) Do you have to use the All4One all the time, or can you simply use it to make multiregion then send back and get a refund :o)

(2) Does the multiregion hack "last"... Is it a "one off"... You set it up Multiregion once, and thats it? Or do you have to enter the code every time you power off etc...

Thanks,
