SONY DAV S-300

I have a chipped Sony DAV S-300 which is currently connected to an older TV which is not NTSC. Any NTSC DVD`s are in black and white. The DVD has a video out which I have connected to an AV converter and into my TV`s AV1. I believe there is a way with some DVD/TV combinations of making it display in colour. Anybody got any ideas please?
