RE: Philips MX3800D Hack Required
Catherine,
Yes as David says just ignore the on screen hand symbols. Put all the codes in thenwhen you press the final play the screen goes blue and a number 01 appears in top left. This is number of times you have changed the region. This number does increment. But so long as you carry out the "Play 159 Play" this resets and always starts back at 01.
I tried 931 and 031 for multiregion but it did not work.
This hack does work, I have it running on mine. So just take care when entering numbers and ignore the hand symbols.

RE: Philips MX3800D Hack Required
Catherine,
At last we have it sorted, hacked and all.
Here it is and will post the hack as well.
All done with the machines own remote.
Press "Play 159 Play" resets the counter to 25, and then you get a total blue screen for 2 seconds then back to normal.
For region 1 discs:-
"Play 159 111 002 08 Play" the counter in the top left increments to 01
and the screen goes blue for 2 seconds then back to normal.
For region 2 discs:-
"Play 159 221 002 08 Play" the counter in the top left increments to 02
and the screen goes blue for 2 seconds then back to normal.
Then press the "Play 159 Play" and the counter shows 25 and the blue screen etc etc.
Next change to a region 1 and the counter starts again at 01
It works and have tried this a few times and counter is at 25 changes and region 1 and 2 both work. So long as you remember to do the reset counter "Play 159 Play" it appears to keep 25 changes and start from 01 changes each time.
Happy viewing
John
RE: REMOTE HACK FOR PHILIPS LX 8000SA
I`ve just got my MX3800D hacked and it appears this hack works for a new range of players / surround sound systems.
Press "Play 159 Play" resets the counter to 25, and then you get the total blue screen for 2 seconds then back to normal.
Next change to a region 1 and the counter starts again at 01
If this does not work change the 002 for 003 as the following seems to apply
001=LX3000D/LX3500
002=MX3600/MX3800D
003=LX7000 plus maybe others.
Remember to reset the counters after each change.
RE: Philips MX3800D Hack Required
Yep, same here. So frustrating, I couldn`t even get mine to tune into the dvd and was using the "One-4-All" URC 7541 so not sure if this was the problem. Will try to get a different model. Will keep looking and try to contact the guy who states it works. Will keep you posted.

RE: Philips MX3800D Hack Required
Spoke too soon, but not tried it yet.
Have at last found a hack thanks to VCDhelp.com (lots of usefull info here)
anyway here it is
Using a "One-4-all" universal remote.
1. Use the setup code 0539.
2. Press MAGIC and enter code 085.
3. The display should now read "-----------".
4. Using the DVD remote enter the code 222 222 005 255 the last digit will not appear on the display.
5. Press PLAY, the display will read NO DISK.
6. Switch off and wait for a few seconds and switch on again.
This guy says he tried it a few days ago and it worked. So will try it tomorrow. Keep us posted

RE: Philips MX3800D Hack Required
Hi all,
Well still not found a hack after 2 months of digging around but I understand it is quite a new unit so it may take a while, but am keeping looking. I do agree with you that the picture quality is far better from the rgb scart as i have tried on s-video and it is poor. Also the sound is superb. I found the unit for sale on the US philips website so it must be possible to alter its regions.
I also tried the palm pilot hack and this did nothing. Lets keep looking and good luck. If anyone finds it keep us all informed.
Best regards
john
Philips MX3800D Hack Required
Does anyone know of or have a hack for this machine to enable either all regions or region 1 & 2. I presume it is possible as the exact same unit is available in the US
Cheers
