RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Just a quick note to say thanks for everyones help.
The scart port was faulty and has been repaired by Comet
and is now working great.

Cheers
Matt

RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Hi R.B.,

Yes the scarts are round thick cables
and have all the pins.
I think they are ok as otherwise they
wouldn`t work with the portable tv I tried them
with. I think!!!! Probably wrongly!!

Thanks

Matt

RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Hi again

Thanks again to R.B. and to Mike

Mike, I`ve tried viewing through AV4, but the
picture is still colour with a yellow tinge,
picture rolls on AV2, but is yellow on AV1,3 and 4.
This happens with R1 or R2 discs.
I`ve also tried the hue control, but this makes
no difference.
There doesn`t seem to be any way of changing
the dvd player to rgb output, but it`s working
fine on my portable tv with any region, so am I
right to assume it`s set for this automatically?
Same thing with the leads, I think they are
fully wired, am I also right to assume they are
fully wired because they are working with the
portable tv?
I`ve tried my friends dvd player on my tv,
and the problems are the same - it`s a Philips too.

Any more help appreciated

Matt

RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Hi R.B.

I`ve tried that, no joy again.
I guess I`m stuck with the engineer on Wednesday.
My remote is the long thin one with the sliding flap
at the bottom.

One other question - is your dvd player just connected
using scart leads?
Well 2 questions - do you have to play it through scart 1
on the tv to watch r1 discs?

Many thanks

Matt

RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Hi R.B.

You seem to have the same model no. ex the A at the end.
The remote with mine is a Goodmans one.
I got mine from Comet, maybe I have a cheaper cut
down model or something.
I`ve tried phoning Comet for advice - ha ha - ,
but they couldn`t help.
They are sending an engineer out next week
to have a look, it`s still under warranty, but I`m
sure he`ll tell me just to play them through my
scart 2 socket for R2 discs.
I still think it`s the tv though as I`ve tried another
dvd player which is doing the same.
It is normal to be able to play the dvd through
either scart socket on the tv is it?

Thanks again

Matt

RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Hi again,

I must havea different remote.
I don`t haveseem to have a round button.

I also don`t have a button that says tv/av.
I have a tv button and a scart button, but
neither gives me any options to change
anything.
Do you have the exact same model R.B.
My manual seems to apply to the W288ns
and W321ns.

Thanks to everyone for their help so far,
if you have any other idess please help.

Thanks
Matthew

RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Cheers Mark

I don`t seem to have a Menu button on my remote,
but thanks for replying.
Which 32 " model do you have?

I`ve also just noticed a typo from my original
post, my tv is a w288ns, not w28ns.
So if R.B. from the earlier post, or anyone
else can help me, I`d be grateful.

Cheers
Matt

RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Hi R.B.

Thanks for the help.
I can`t see anything on the remote or manual
about changing from S Video to RGB.
I`m sure I`m being thick!!
You couldn`t tell me how to do this could you?

Many thanks

Matt

RE: Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

Thanks for replying Gerald.

If the dvd is the possible problem, would it not be
the same on the portabe tv I tried the dvd with?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Please......................

Goodmans tv problem, please help!!

I have a Philips DVD756 and a Goodmans w28ns tv.
The tv scart 1 is supposed to be rgb and ntsc.
I`ve hacked the dvd to be multi region using a one4all.
Now, when I play any region through the tv scart 1,
the picture is colour but has a strong yellow tinge
When I use tv scart 2 ( not rgb ), the R2 discs are perfect
and R1 is black and white.
I`m using 21 pin scart lead from tv to dvd.
I tried R1 and R2 with an old Sharp portable using the
same scart lead and the colours are fine so I think
it must be the tv.
Any ideas on what I can do?
It definitely says rgb and NTSC compatiblle in the tv manual,
but nothing about setting or altering it.

Many thanks
Matthew

Philips DVD 756 hack questions

I`m planning to take the plunge and try the One for all hack this week.
Could someone please help with the following points if they could?

On the Philips hack page it says use the URC7560 model, this
seems to be discontinued - will any "one for all" 4 in 1 work?

It also says on the hack page to make sure the scart lead is RGB, are these common, the Argos catalogue scarts don`t mention if they are or not.

Lastly, has anyone with the 756 tried this hack?

Many thanks to anyone who can help in advance.

Matt
