RE: Yamada 9300HX

I see your point but that still doesn`t solve the fact that you could not have top-up TV via the tuner even if you have one, and the whole twin tuner thing in the player doesn`t phase me due to the setup of my system as our HD ready TV has one built in anyway...

I suppose its all really down to personal preference really, but I`m damn chuffed with it.

;)

RE: Yamada 9300HX

Well thats easily solved you just run a Scart lead from a Digibox like I have done, plus the fact is that I wouldn`t be able to get my Top-Up TV even if I did have a Digital Tuner with it as there is no card slots included with them to my knowledge. I`d class that as a minor niggle... :)

Yamada 9300HX

Hello,

For some time I had been researching various DVD recorders. It needed to fill quite a few requirements. Hard Disk, DivX enabled, Multi-region and 5.1 Analogue outputs with a built in decoder. Initially I was going to go for a Liteon from Argos but by chance found this Yamada instead which ticked all the boxes I need, including a 250GB Hard disk. I`ve had it for a about 2 weeks now and I reackon its a decent wee model.

The odd thing is though, I can hardly find anything documented about it apart from european electrical retailers and the place in the UK where I found it was here:

Personally I think its quite a bargain. What do you chaps think? :)

Schnieder 857 from asda

Hey chaps. I like this player it seems to do nigh on everything but it does seem to vibrate and get a wee bit noisy. Now at the weekend im going to pad the bottom with felt to see if this stops it - but is there a known issue with it being a noisy player? Is there a remedy? Have i got a faulty one or is it naturally noisy?

RE: advice needed budget £100 max!

I think im going to go for the Thomson dth 210u model as it has what i want (I hope) and is only 79.99 so im going to go 4 it! Wish me luck. I know that inbuilt decoders are not too hot but i just want a basic surround setup - nothing too flashy!

advice needed budget £100 max!

I want to upgrade my DVD player from a wharfdale 750s.

Essentially the replacement must be the same (eg multi -region,RCE compatible) with the exception of an added inbuilt Dolby/Dts decoder. It would also be good if it didnt have any problems with playing any discs at all!

I have drawn up a shortlist - which one should i go for? (Or suggestions of any better models that have my required specs?)

SVA D-2008 Multi-region.

Philips 634 (dont know if it can be multi-region and sketchy if it has an inbuilt dolby/dts decoder)

Thomson dth-210u (apparently has a decoder but i havent heard of any sucessful region hacks?)

And even a Cyberhome player? I dont know any specific models.

Can anyone clarify the details of these players? Id be most grateful if you could help me as i want to buy one in the new few days!

Need advice on getting a player after buying the wharfedale 750s

I would like to buy another DVD player. But it must have the followings specs:

Multi-region

Inbuilt Dolby digital decoder

No probs with any discs

Under £120

Is this possible? The wharfedale M5 would have been perfect but i just cant get hold of one and Wharfdale said that i would only find a second hand model - if im lucky!

Can you chaps think of any alternatives?

Im a bit of a newbie can anyone help me!

Just two questions i have a rather reliable old Wharfedale 750s model. Its been fine for me apart from one DVD. The Disney Tarzan double disk special edition. The second disk will not play the storyboard/film comparision. It will play everything else on the disk but just not that feature. I know that there has been some problems with the disney disks on wharfedale`s but what intrigues me more is the fact that the second disk will not play a tall on my PC-DVD it just displays an error msg. All the other disks will play fine though. Even the Tarzan movie disk! I have tried the 2nd disk on a sony dvd player and a Mac and the storyboard comparrison bit works fine! What should i do? The disk is 2nd hand but i can return it. Could it be faulty? Is there known issues with the Tarzan 2nd disk on wharfdale 750s models? I rang them and they said not with tarzan but with other disks! What should i do? Finally my dvd player wont play certain VCDs - any reason?

All the best

CC.
