RE: Problems using region 1 disks in Toshiba player

Okay - tried various permutations, and found it was the Scart `chain` - it was running from the dvd, through a vcr & then into a cable box before ending up in the TV. By aprocess of elimination, its the cable box that has the problem with the signal, and sends it out in b&w.

Plugging the dvd directly into the TV, and selecting the RGB output gives me full, rich NTSC colour.

Shame my TV is so small, it only has one scart input. I shouldn`t be so cheap & buy something bigger. Thanks for your help.

RE: Toshiba SD210E Problem

Hi

I have the same dvd player - you`ll see my query about a similar problem elsewhere here!

The answer is likely to be in your TV. I could get playback in b&w (because of other devices - vcr, cablebox - in the Scart chain), until I plugged directly via Scart into the Sony TV. Go to `Set up` menu and choose the RGB output mode (last selection on the menu). You should get colour, like I did. If you don`t, I would suggest that the problem lies with your TV, and you should try another with Scart input.

RE: Problems using region 1 disks in Toshiba player

Thanks for this.

Switching back to PAL brings up the dreaded `RCE restricted` display. I have tried swapping disks (as suggested by the insert in my manual) to defeat this, but still only get b+w playback. The DVD is connected via Scart to a Sony TV, which only has one Scart socket. It could be that it doesn`t handle NTSC as you say, in which case, I guess I`m stuck.

Thanks for you help, though.

Problems using region 1 disks in Toshiba player

I have a Toshiba SD210EB player, which is already multi-region.

I can play region 1 disks, by changing the default set up from PAL to AUTO. Unfortunately, playback from then on is only in black and white. Is there anything else I need to change to return to colour?

Regards,

Jonathan
