RE: philips dvd 880 recorder
Hello there,
Re the "Unreadable Data" thing....
One way to get to at least finalise the disc (which means it should play okay)
Place the disc in the tray but DON`T close it.
Hold down the Record button on the remote `til the tray shuts
It will then try reading the disc and should then show record/pause mode on the telly.
Press stop on the remote and this should take you back into the root menu thing showing the titles already on the disc
Press the up arrow on the remote `til you get to the screen where you can select "finalise"
Good luck!
Paul
PS What discs are you using?
Number of Region Changes on Philips DVDR880
Any truth in the tale that the DVDR880 locks on one region after 25 changes?
(Most) new RCE region 1 discs require the 121 212 255 001 code to make it solely region 1 which means you have to make it region 2/multi region again afterwards.
RE: PHILIPS 890 MULTI REGION - REVERSE HACK!!!
Lee
If/when you get your recorder back, to enter chapters "live" you just press edit while you are recording and it just flashes "updating...." on the screen - doesn`t cause the disc to stop.

RE: PHILIPS 890 MULTI REGION - REVERSE HACK!!!
Hello again Lee
Sussed a couple of things out - DVD+R chapters have to be entered "live" ie while you are recording a program, or by setting the auto chapter thing.
Also, if you have any discs that "lock" you out, try opening the tray and leave the disc in it. Press and hold record on the remote until the tray closes and hopefully you should be to record on the next part of the disc.
Hope this is of some use.

RE: PHILIPS 890 MULTI REGION - REVERSE HACK!!!
i have trouble inserting chapters - screen keeps "updating" and then resetting so no chapters appear to have registered.
when i have managed to get the chapters inserted and i finalise the discs it "loses" them, so playing them on another machines it is just one continuous track. the chapters still register on the dvdr880 though. weird!

Region switching on Philips DVDR880
Is there any truth in the story that the DVDR880 will "lock" on one region after 25 changes?
Philips DVR880 hack
Anyone help...I have sussed the 121212 005 001 code to make the above soley a region 1 player. is there another "multi region code" besides 255 as the last 3 digits which means I don`t have to constantly change the settings when playing RCE discs such as "enough"?
Also, is it true that the player will "lock" on whatever region it is after 25 swaps? I get the "------" using the RC6 method
Cheers
