The blonde bombshell was good as well, with her male parner doing the `slo mo running on air` stuff using the wires.
She had a partner?!?
I didn`t notice.
RE: Life on Mars...
Does anyone know the name of the Scottish woman who played the reporter in the seige episode? I`m trying to work out where I`ve seen her before.
RE: Yes, yes, I have seen Serenity. Who wants to touch me?
Hurrah. Two more of us, two less of them.

Whats the deal with this film? Why is it so popular?
The deal is that it`s a resurrection of a cancelled TV show, so there`s a whole lot of baggage that goes along with it that you might not get if you haven`t seen Firefly. I`m not sure I wouldn`t share your scepticism if I didn`t love Firefly so much.
People seem to love it or hate it, which is better than everybody just liking it in my book. I guess you just don`t love it.
RE: Yes, yes, I have seen Serenity. Who wants to touch me?
Yes,
It will stand up on its own, but you`ll enjoy it much much more if you see Firefly first.
RE: Yes, yes, I have seen Serenity. Who wants to touch me?
No, you`re being evangelical and will almost certainly go to the special heaven they reserve for people with taste and discernment.
RE: Frikkin Norwich
Sheilas` Wheels?
Didn`t they have a big hit with `Stuck in the Middle with you`?
RE: Yes, yes, I have seen Serenity. Who wants to touch me?
Thanks for the explanation of `The Lady` Ras. I never got round to reading Pratchett.
The irony is, as you say, er... certain.
Anyway, turns out that one of my colleagues had very kindly locked it away from thieving hands, so am now a happy bunny.

I`m just glad the movie disc is R2/4
Yeah, that`s all that matters.
Just got back from Hong Kong, so this might not be v coherent.
Serenity is no. 22 on the HMV chart in its first week (9 songs was no 3!!)(They don`t care them lot do they?)(At least over here we wait until we can get it discreetly off the normal shelf rather than the highly exposed new releases)(It was crap anyway)(And he should have called it `Desert Island Dicks`) . 20 when we left. I think that`s pretty good considering.
And it was supposed to be shown on the flight back, so I went round telling anyone of the 150 people I was with that they should watch it, and then they hadn`t even put the bloody tape on the plane. We got `Joey` (most appropriately named sitcom ever?)(and I`m not talking about the titular character) instead.
And I just drove to work to get my tin (couldn`t really wait after getting psyched up to watch it all week) and it`s not there. I`m concerned.

BTW the discs are dual encoded for Regions 2 & 4
Woohoo!
Rewatching Firefly to keep myself going.
RE: Serenity Flies
I`m gonna be out of the country when it arrives.
And it`s going to work, so I don`t even have it to look forward to when I get back.
And I`ve just discovered I`m gonna have to listen to my walkman for the last 24 hours so as not to catch the result of Liv v Man U.
My life is hell.
RE: Serenity Flies
I`m touched.
And Humbled.

RE: Serenity Flies
Not your tin, no.
My tin.
Don`t care about you.
RE: 24 hour party people
If I remember rightly (it`s been a while) the disc 2 extras are of interest if you`re into the music and history of Factory, more than the film itself.
The `commentary` with Miranda Sawyer, Peter Hook, Rowetta (who turns up half way through I think) et. al. is more of a discussion of the times at some bar in Manchester, with occasional reference to the film, which is displayed p in p.
Then there`s a quite interesting commentary with Tony Wilson and the Factory designer talking over various bits of `design` like record sleeves and such.
I don`t remember the Pills n Thrills n Bellyaches documentary.
The `Portrait of a filmmaker` is as perverse as you`d expect from Winterbottom, where he tries to be all mysterious and not be interviewed much. I guess if you`re a fan of his you`ll probably appreciate that.

RE: Serenity Flies
R1 would have meant watching it on my more `crappy` DVD player.
And not so many extras.
And NTSC.
And that scary FBI warning that makes you think they`re about to burst through the door any second with a SWAT team. I`m sure they`d get much more cooperation from folk if they got Simon Bates to do that. On second thought.
Anyway, it`s awayyyy.
Let`s hope it makes it here quickly and without impacting on the surface.
I bet it arrives next week when I`m out of the country.
Does anyone know for sure whether the R4 is also R2 encoded? A lot of them are.

RE: Serenity Flies
Think you`re dying?
I ordered mine 6 weeks ago.
RE: 24 hour party people
Yeah, I`ve got the 2 disc set.
It`s here, although 6 to 8 days usually means it`s out of stock.
RE: Being British Is...
Surely the press would be amazed at finding a talking ant and grasshopper with any sort of moral sense, let alone diametrically opposed codes, and they would both be lauded the world over and get rich selling their stories to the papers.
RE: Advice needed re digital recorder
Sorry, I don`t think I`ve made myself quite clear.
The Hitachi has a DVD-RAM drive on it, but will I still be able to play video saved from my old machine to DVD-RAM, or is there anything about... Oh bloody hell this is hard to explain.
I think (manual in pidgin English so not sure) that the titles on the DVD-RAM will have been recorded in DVD-VR mode. So does the disc just store the titles and the machine displays them with its own menu etc. Or is there something proprietary about the way it will have stored the titles which makes them unwatchable on other manufacturer`s machines?
Advice needed re digital recorder
I very stupidly knackered my Toshiba RD XS30 at the weekend and am looking to replace it.
I quite like the look of the Hitachi DS161E as it does most things the old one can do and seems to be region hackable.
My question is - I have a lot of stuff from the XS30 temporarily downloaded onto DVD-RAM; will I be able to play this on the Hitachi, or will it just treat it as unkown file types, like my PC does?
Cheers.
RE: Golden Globes-2005
Yes, glad HL got it.
Don`t really care about any of the others.
Ang Lee. I haven`t made it all the way through a single one of his films.
RE: Life on Mars...
Cool.
I thought last week that that wasn`t the original testcard.
I have this theory that he`s been sent back in time by a time machine that only works by running someone over at 88 mph, using 2.21 jiggerwatts of electricity.
RE: How many episodes of `My Name Is Earl` are there??
Nacle of the LORD.

RE: Due South now airing on ITV3
Fantastic. Thanks for this.
I started watching `Crash` the other night and was amazed to find it`s from the same guy.

They`d better do The Magician`s Nephew though
I think that`s my fav book, but it`s quite cerebral. Not sure how they`d translate it into a film.

Ah I see. V good.
Not many people realise y`see that Zod didn`t actually mean anyone any harm. It`s just that where he came from they used to have kneeling contests. Quickest one to the ground wins. No-one could kneel before Zod. It was more of a challenge really.
