RE: Subwoofer dilemma

I`ve been looking around for the same thing and westy recommended to me the Velodyne CHT-10, he says quote:

"Velodyne?? Yes, Velodyne. Though some will kick my ass here for saying it, the Rel subs you mention just sound pants next to the Velodyne CHT-10. For £325, (delivered to your door inclusive of this too), you get possibly the finest `budget` sub on the planet, (blimey, not even budget does this thing justice). I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed in the slightest."

but its a bit big for my small front room and I found whilst searching through old posts that the MJ acoustic pro 50 is highly recommended especially if you read the reviews on their website, and one of those boys cost £299.

RE: mission m70s and marantz 5200/5300??????????

don`t worry about the velodyne dimensions Westy I got them off the AV forum, and that is one big old boy, I think my girlfriend would kill me if I wheeled that beast in.

damm how do you fit all that stuff in your lounge!

RE: mission m70s and marantz 5200/5300??????????

Thanks guys,

I did look at the 4200 but I think I`ll future proof myself a bit more and go for the higher quality 5300 if Westy recommends it.

As for the speakers I was looking for something that didn`t stick out too much and thought the m7c1 would sit nicely on my black widescreen whereas the recommended M7c2 looks alot more chunkier. Hopefully there`s not too much difference in the sound quality??

Also I know everyone recommends the m7ds but I just can`t see them fitting in with my lounge, so its either back to buying the package and using the m70s as rears or buy another descreter rear speaker that would sound good with the missions if someone can recommend a suitable choice.

Oh and do you have the dimensions of that Velodyne sub Westy, I take it its just a plain black jobby?

mission m70s and marantz 5200/5300??????????

Can any of you kind folks help me with the following....

I currently own 28 inch Philips widescreen tv and a LG 3350e dvd player and am looking to get a nice descrete 5.1 surround sound cinema setup for a small/medium sized room.

I`m pretty much decided on a Marantz 5200 or 5300 reciever but is it worth splashing the extra dosh on the updated 5300 or is there not alot of difference?

Also for the speaker package I quite fancy the mission M70 cinema set for £330 (has anyone heard or own this and can give a decent review??) but i`m not sure if the sub is up to much and whether to,

a) go the easy route and buy the complete speaker package or

b) just buy the M70 front pair and centre speaker and use my existing kenwood speakers as rears on a temporary basis until I can save up a little more cash and then swap the fronts to rears and get maybe a slightly weightier more expensive front pair and a higher quality sub like the REL Q150 or the Quake.

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated,

thanks in advance,

R
