Hi di you ever manage to crack this one. I need to do so before my wife kills me... I bought this player to replace the old one and since then she cant play her reg 1 discs!

did anyone get any further with this. I am stuck. I bought it because my alba 103 would not handle my home movie dvd-r`s. this hitachi works superbly on them. however i have a number of region 1`s which the alba handled but i now can`t watch so i am desparate to know if there is a hack for it?

DId you ever get an answer on this. I have the same machine and have tried all of the different hitachi hacks I can find but none of them work.
