RE: Tesco Very Good - Anyone disagree?

ME!!!!!

Tesco seem to have cancelled everyones Buffy Season II DVD order, if they ordered for £42. They have done this without EMailing anyone. You have to check your order status to find out. Great customer service!!!

RE: Samsung DVD-511.. how temporary is temporary ???

Depends on which hack you mean

The AIWA Remote hack is temporary, i.e. as said above when you turn the player off, it loses the hack

The SAMSUNG Remote hack is permentant, so once set you do not need to touch it again. (unless you really want to)

Details of both hacks can be found on this site.

RE: samsung 511 any good

I have an 811 which is basically the same player with dolby decoder built in. My player was hackable no problem AND will play cd-r`s and cd-wr`s and MP3s.

RE: Skipping on Samsung/Thomson

Yeah both the temp 709 and the Thomson hack worked OK, with no problems. Not sure about RCE as I do not have any RCE disks, but watch the threads here and other sites, do not seam to suggest there is any problem.

RE: Skipping on Samsung/Thomson

I have an 811, and I had experienced skipping, but I tracked it down to overheating as the player was in a stack. I have moved it to be on it`s own, and sofar I have not had any problems. Found it has played everything I have thrown at it so far including CDR`s of mp3 files.

RE: Samsung/Thomson hacks. I`m confused, please help.

The Thompson hack works with the 811. I am not sure about macrovision.

Skipping on Samsung 811

I recently swapped my Wharfedale 750 for a Samsung 811. While I have found the player performs really well, I noticed some skipping occured on certain discs. In extreme cases (Galaxy Quest) the film became unwatchable after the layer change and American Beauty would not operate from the menu system until I had forced the player to play some of the special features.
I have now fixed this problem, by moving my player. The Wharefdale used to be in a stack with my On Digital and Sky digital boxes sat on top of it. It did not have any problems, (apart from the well documented faults) however placing the Samsung in the same position caused the skipping. I now have the player on it`s own, and the player feels much cooler and no skipping has occured since.

RE: samsung 811 ore phillips 711! what is the best choice

I have an 811, and the reote hack works. Not had any problems with skipping, though the layer change can sometimes be noticeable, (when compared to a Wharfedale)

Don`t know anything about Phillips apart from several threads in the Hacks section talk about a permanant Hack for most Phillips players that has been found.

RE: OMG Samsung-511 region free with NORMAL handset...!!

Hack also works on Samsung 811.

Hurray.....

My wife is pleased, she didn`t understand how to do the temp hack, but this seems permenant.

RE: Apply cracks with Palm Pilot????

No need,
look at other threads, you can hack the 511/811 using the Samsung remote.

RE: HELP! Samsung 511 hack not working

Use the cold start 709 hack.

Turn player off from front.
press and hold play and stop on front of player at the same time
use the samsung remote to press power on
when language selection comes up select correct language
while front says loading press Aiwa remote keys as before on 709
tray should eject and screen say adjust
put in your region 1 discs and press play
the player is region free until powered off from remote or front.

RE: Phillips 711 or Samsung DVD-811 hack?

For the 811 there is a tempory hack based on the Samsung 709. Though once you turn the player off the hack disappears.

I posted how to do it exactly on message here before, as it is the same as the Samsung 511. The 709 hack needs slight modification in which buttons and when, but the priciple is the same.

Which budget Home Theater Sound system is better ?

I have a Samsung 811 DVD player which has a Dolby decoder built into it. I want to buy a budget Home Theater sound system but don`t know which to buy.

I have a fairly large room for it to sit in so it needs to be able to deliver a bit of volume.

I have seen the Videologic LC (No decoder) £130ish and the Sony SA-VE315 speaker system £205ish.

Any comments / suggestions / experience with the above or alternatives.

Remeber I am looking for the best budget system !

Thanks in advance

RE: Canadian Samsung 511 - Help needed with remote hack.

Is it because you are trying to play PAL encoded discs on an NSCT (or whatever I can never remember) TV.

The UK 511 can convert NSCT to PAL, but can your version convert the other way ? or can you TV cope with PAL signal ?

Just my thoughts, I am no expert

RE: Samsung 811 vs Panasonic RV20

The hack in not permanent for the 811. Seems to perform OK, with all of the 30 odd discs I have thrown at it, though I only own the Matrix which was an old problem disc on early 709s.

RE: samsung511remote hack

????????????

On the DVD Reviewer site, the DVD Hacks section does carry a warning that they accept no responsability to any damage done using the hacks. I agree with that sentiment. But I also would give it ago.

RE: samsung511remote hack

No problem, information came from dvd.reviewer hack information for 709, modified for 811/511, so most of the hardwork is from them.

As for the hack, that is all you need to do each time you want to play non region 2 disks.

RE: samsung511remote hack

To set remote up
1. Press Audio
2. Press Magic (hold until light flashes twice)
3. Type 0121 (light should flash twice)
4. Press Audio
5. Press Magic until light flashes twice
6. Type 995
7. Press key that you would like to be macro key to region free the player
8. Quickly press Audio, Magic, 078, Audio Magic, 078
9. Press and hold Magic until light flashes twice.
10. If you press Audio and then the macro key the light should flash twice

To region free player (This is based on my experience with the 811 so should be the same)
1. Turn player off on front of machine.
2. Press and hold play and stop buttons on the machine at the same time.
3. Turn on machine using Samsung remote power button
4. When language options come up (front will say loading...) release play and stop buttons and select 1 for english using samsung remote.
5. Using AllinOne press Audio and then Macro key. The display on machine should say loading and then adjust. The tray will eject and you can play region 1 disks. If the display changes to No Disc before you have pressed the AllinOne you are too late and will have to start again from turning the machine off.

Note this Hack only makes the player region free while the player is on. Putting it into Standby or off will lose the hack and you will have to start again.

RE: samsung511remote hack

Check out info section on this site "Multi-Region Hacks", the 511 can be hacked the same as the 709, but not on a permanent basis
