RE: Have I been ripped off?

thanks for the reply mike. a perfect justification for a new tv...!

Re: digital photos. I was told by a sales person at a sony centre that it could play jpeg and mpeg. He seemed to know alot about the system and its features and given it was a sony store i figured he knew what he was talking about... but i`ve since been told by a dixons employee that the DAV S 550 cant play jpegs...!

cheers, unzud

Have I been ripped off?

This is a simple question but I`m new to the home cinema thing... I have just brought a Sony DAV S 550. The shop insists its a multiregion player, but when i play region 1 dvds it plays them in a stable B&W picture. I assume it is because of the NTSC. Nowhere on the box or in the manual does it say it is multiregion. Therefore, should i assume that because it plays the region 1 dvd it is in fact multiregion and the B&W picture is because of the NTSC incompatibility? Therefore if i get a tv with NTSC compat. everything will be resolved??! Also, I cant view the digital photos i have on CD-R. it simply says it `cant read`. the images are all jpeg.

Anyone help me out here?

please?

Cheers,

unzud
