RE: Connecting TV, VCR and DVD player
I would connect the DVD to the TV via scart, then just use the video through the co-ax aerial lead.
IMO picture quality from VCR doesn`t warrant the expense of a decent scart switching box or extra scart leads.
Playback of DVD+R recorded on Philips DVDR-75
I have recently archived some shows off my TiVo onto DVD+R using my DVDR-75 without any problems. Playback on my recorder is OK.
However, playback on my Wharfedale 750 is bizarre. The whole picture is squashed into the left half of the screen, with the right half remaining black and blank. The disk menu is OK though, as is navigation, sound and the picture quality (albeit squashed!).
Am I missing a trick here when recording, or would the "region 2 Jaws" DVD firmware upgrade on the Wharfedale fix it? I am of course assuming the Whafedale is able to play DVD+Rs........(my old Philips doesn`t!).

Updating firmware on Philips DVD-718
I have an (old) Philips DVD 718, bought new in Hong Kong region free in Oct 1999. I am now experiencing some problems playing disks and want to update the firmware to the latest standard.
I have the firmware, and have burnt it to a CD, but nothing happens when I load the disk, it just gets ejected.
How can I check the current software standard, and whether the update was successful? Is there a trick to updating firmware?
Please help.....
P.S. The forum on the Philips Syndicate site appears not to be very active, hence the posting here.....
