RE: Stocks and shares
They used to say that, over the long-term, shares beat cash hands-down. Not sure if that`s still true, but have a look at The Motley Fool (www.fool.co.uk) for shares advice.
And if you invest through an ISA, you don`t pay tax on the interest, I think.
RE: DVD Reviewer Roll call & name change update
Just popped in for the first time in about 8 years :-0
Nice to see lots of familiar names still around :-)
RE: Well my 2008 optimism is over...
My mum was nuked recently - she only had to sit in the back seat of the car when my dad drove her home from the hospital!
Luckily she`s now gone into remission, so my thoughts are with everyone else.
She had immediate support from Macmillan, she didn`t need any medical help from them, but they were an extra source of advice, and were very helpful.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas everyone (all 3 of you!!).
Bethyblue and my alter-ego, backspin, won`t be around much over Christmas, so I`m just off to accept any outstanding challenges, and then NewBlue and SantaBaby will be terminated.
I`ll hopefully be back in the New Year, work circumstances permitting.
Bye for now,
xxx

RE: When do your Xmas holidays start?
I was made redundant recently, so I get the whole of Christmas off and I don`t know when I`ll be back at work.
Does that make me lucky or not? :/
RE: Hindu Gods get summons from court

What happens if they don`t show?
More importantly - what happens if they do??!!
RE: Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is.......
All I want is Green & Black`s chocolate, please (preferably not the cherry flavour though, if that`s not being too picky, Santa)
RE: im back
I came back too!
How (and where??!!) is everyone?
Don`t you just hate it when ...
... you bump into someone you haven`t spoken to in ages and the first thing they do is ask you for money?
As some of you know doubt remember (thanks again, you know who you are :x ) I ran the London Marathon last year and, guess what .. I`m doing it again!!
On Sunday 23rd April I will be running 26 miles in aid of Willen Hospice in MK, so if any of you have the odd bit of change going spare, you can sponsor me here.
I know, I`ve got a hell of a cheek, I`ve contributed nothing to the site in months, (in my defence, I blame the IT police at work), so I don`t really expect anything from you all, but hey, what else are old friends for? :x
*Edit* Sorry, there aren`t any pictures of me looking "pretty in pink" as there were last year! ;)

RE: Nickthegun Appreciation Society (OK, Fan Club)
What are the kittens doing with the money ntg gives them?
RE: Cut up your Barclaycard NOW!!!
A credit card is ALWAYS worth having, for the protection it offers you when a business goes bust or fails to deliver. AND some of them give you cashback as well, so even if you do save up for something, it`s still worth paying for it on a decent credit card - keep your savings for longer and earn cashback as well. Daft not to, really.
RE: Find out how you are going to die
Helen was killed by her husband
Helen was killed by a vampire
Helen was killed by a car while crossing the road with her young son
Helen was killed by a bullet fired from the club entrance
Helen was killed by The Indians
Helen was killed by a run away horse
Helen was killed by murder
Maybe I should stick with my alter-ego, she only dies twice (and both of those are fictional!!) :D
Beth was killed by Colonel Henshaw when Sam refused to change history (Quantum Leap)
Beth was killed by Von (Star Wars?)

I`m sure no one (except maybe the 42%er) will notice, but I shan`t be posting very often either - I was informed yesterday that the IT police are officially watching and any surfing during working hours (it`s lunchtime!) will be a disciplinary offence :( :( :(
Used to spend hours lurking, now I can`t even do that :(
Best of luck with the new job Rass - did you tell them you`re planning to emigrate imminently? (:¦
