Where to buy PC components?

My ebuyer external enclosure housing one of my CD-RW drives just died. I checked on ebuyer and the same one (SUSB2-525ACF) is out of stock. Other than ebuyer and svp where else offer componants (and i`m probably going to get another drive and some blanks aswell) on the net at reasonable prices with competitive service?

Any help would be appreciated,

There are some issues with Supanet broadband, they don`t like the use of p2p programs and threaten to terminate the service if they`re used for illegal downloads. How they prove this is another issue but then i never do anything illegal online... er.. yeah..

As for their unrestricted bandwidth, while this is technically true, it appears if you use a large amount of bandwidth they put you on a server with everyone else who uses a large amount of bandwidth with a higher contention ratio...

Thanks for the advice guys, i`m just about to open up my machine to see if there`s anything i can do before i have to buy a new fan. Its just the cooling fan at the back so i hope it isn`t a major issue. After looking at just how cheap they are, i think i`m going to replace it anyway as its bloody noisy under normal running as it is.

Replacing a cooling fan?

When i booted my computer up tonight after coming home from work it sounded like someone had started drilling round the back.

As far as i can tell its the fan making the noise. I`m not quite sure whether the blade has come a bit loose and is vibrating or the entire thing has gone and needs to be replaced.

As yet i haven`t opened up the case, i was going to do that tomorrow night but if the fan has gone, how easy is it to replace? are they much the same (apart from size) or will i need a specific one? Sorry if i`m being dumb, i`m just not good with the internal workings of my machine.

What do i look for in a TFT monitor?

For christmas i`m thinking of upgrading my ancient 17" CRT monitor for a 19" TFT monitor, when i suddenly thought, what do i look for?

do i want a high image brightness? the ones i`ve been looking at have 250cd/m2
what about a contrast ratio, will i notice a huge amount of difference between 500:1 and 600:1?

also the highest resolution i`ve been looking at is 1280x1024, at the moment i don`t see me needing higher resolution but should i go for one that can handle more (if one can in this range)?

What about video interfaces, DVI or VGA?

Sorry to sound like an idiot but i really only just started looking and don`t want to make a rash decision and be left with a lemon.

If anyone can help or point me in the direction of a website that can help it would be most appreciated.

Neither are out of print as they`ve never been officially released on DVD, they are both availiable on bootleg DVD`s (sadly i don`t have either) but if you go into each bands related forums and request a B&P i`m sure someone will hook you up or search easytree and sharing the groove for a torrent as was suggested above. One thing, never pay for any of these bootlegs, it`s people ripping others off, someone will rather B&P it with you than let any scumbag profit from these things...

Hellboy: 3 Disc DC with statue thingy.

OK, so i`ve been away and forgot to pre-order this before i went, on return i notced that play are listing this as "sold out", anyone know of anywhere else i could pre-order this from? (preferably where i could avoid import duties.. but if needs must..)

RE: Friday the 13th which version/s to get??

In the box Friday the 13th pt 1 doesn`t have any of the extras that were on the UK re-release, commentary & documentary. However 4 of the films have new commentaries and the 5th disc of extras (which i`m not sure whether it may contain parts of the doco from pt 1 or not, not had time to watch it yet).

I thought some of the films were cut on R2 as well, i have a hotchpotch of R1 & 2 discs including 3 versions of part 1 now after buying the box!

The thing you should know about the box is that the discs are all single side dual layer with two films per disc. I haven`t had time to compare them to the original releases but i thought the picture quality on the paramount r1 discs was pretty good but i cant imagine the would compromise this new release in any way.

It should also be noted that in a recent Fangoria interview, it was stated that the box represents the most complete version (film and extras) at this point [which it obviously doesn`t given the commentary on the UK pt 1] and should be considered a work in progress. Meaning that in a couple of years there`ll probably be another one.

I only get a maximum of one package a day no matter how many were sent on the same day, the reason, they`re taken the van off my postie and now he has a bike with a small sack so i`ve got f[at]kc all chance of getting me DVD`s....

Dumbass question of the week, USB related

My computer has 5 USB ports, how do i tell whether they`re 1.1 or 2.0, it was bought december 2003 and two of the ports have a `high-speed usb` sticker next to them. Is there a test i can do to find out?

Think i`m going to wait a bit now and read a few more reviews before i splash out my cash, if the reviews are good on friday, i may get it saturday, i`m sure nowhere`ll sell out.... actually come to think of it, if it is crap, no doubt the shops will have bought in too many copies, this may find its way into the bargain bins sooner than you think...

Driv3r PS2 or Xbox?

I really want this game but don`t know whether to get it for PS2 or Xbox, i`m inclined to go for the Xbox version because of the superior graphics but my heart says PS2, anyone have any opinions?

Bathhurst and the Full Brands circuits are in Race Driver 1, its a shame that you have to stick with cars on their home circuits, i would love to race a V8 supercar around donington or say, the full 14-odd mile Nurburgring.

HMV are selling region 1 DVD`s, i know the shop in Meadowhall sheffield has a copy of the R1 Metallica`s Cliff Em All, admittedly it seems to be just music DVD`s (not DVD-Audio) but they`re selling them none the less.

TOCA Race Driver 2 will it be on PS2?

I played a PC demo of this today and after the dissapointment of the graphics of Race Driver 1 on the PS2, i was wondering whether this`ll be coming out on the PS2, i know its out on the Xbox & PC on friday but there`s no mention of a PS2 version, if there isn`t i`m off to buy an Xbox, cant cope with playing games on my PC.

As far as i`m aware it was cancelled quite early into the second season where they were still doing stand alone episodes, it wasn`t until later that they became more arc-based and by the end was one of the best shows on at the time... if only they would have reconsidered... well, i suppose we could watch Jessica Alba in Honey.... er, did i say that?
