if you play around with the settings ie ver 5000 5001 etc, you can also play SVCD/VCD, now my player is superb.........

try this guys, worked for me
1. Open the DVD tray, be sure to be in stop mode
2. Now press SETUP KEY
3. Now press NEXT , PREV , NEXT , PREV
4. On screen you will see VERSION 2
5. Select 255 for Region Free using arrow keys
6. Press Setup Key to save settings

I am trying to find the same thing with no joy, if you do please let me know stuoctna[at]moc.loa, if you send me your email I will do the same. on another note, the surround sound system, I switch of tv and the sound still comes thru , all garbbled. does yours ? plus I have missing cables aaaaaagh

fraid this didn`t work, all that happens when I start to enter the code, is a hand appears on the right of my screen. might take this one back(like the surround system though), or buy another make.
