RE: widescreen vcr?
Yup - ANY VCR will record in widescreen from a widescreen source e.g. digibox. It doesn`t know it`s widescreen. Obviously if you play back a widescreen recording on a 4:3 set then it will look squashed. My Samsung VCR has a nice big silver label on it saying 16:9 capability - yup, it`s a marketing ploy.
Macrovision disabling on Bush DVD2000
I have a BUSHDVD2000 - anyone got any ideas on how to disable
macrovision on this model. Cheers!
RE: Fully Wired SCART Cable - Recommendations Please.
Try the range offered by Richer Sounds - either at their shops or on the web at www.richersounds.co.uk
RE: Cheap widescreens.
I also had a Toshiba 28Widescreen/Pro-Logic - it was (and still is with my parents) an extremely capable set. I understand that the Hitachi you mention from work colleagues is not that brilliant in the sound dept. They even thought that my Matsui was far better in this respect. But yes, size matters. p.s. I also have an old mono Matsui VCR up in a bedroom - this is now 14 years old and up to one year ago was in daily use. It has never gone wrong nor shown any signs of doing so.
Regards!
RE: Cheap widescreens.
Hooray! Someone else (Jimbo) who has actually heard/seen of my telly - i.e. the Matsui 32WV2DP). It appeared on the Dixons web-site for only about 1 month at £429 - definately included the stand - i..e. the stand was NOT charged for at an additional £50. I bought it from the Cambridge store after mentioning the `net price. Funny old world `cos the non-Dolby version of it was some £70 more in store at the time. But the store honoured the `net price and I was one happy customer! Any other information on this set Jimbo would be much appreciated. Like who actually made it; tube maker etc etc - cheers!
RE: Cheap widescreens.
I have a Matsui 32WV2DP (which as the name suggests is a 32" Dolby Pro-Logic Widescreen - which also includes a smoked-glass fronted two-shelf cabinet). I bought it directly from Dixons about 6 months ago for £429. Not sure if they still do it - and it was not in their shops. Guess it would be worth checking their website/phone. The TV supports PAL 50/60 and NTSC 4.2. It has two scart sockets - each supporting RGB or configarable S-VHS input. Front phono`s/ear-phone sockets too. The picture isn`t bad either! Includes fast-text and automatic or manual picture sizing. Send me an e-mail if you want further info. subcg[at]ku.oc.esilatot
Hope this helps.

RE: Best Home Theatre System?
Many thanks `dangerous`...
RE: what scart lead?
Also try the cables from Richer Sounds - fully shielded with gold-plated connectors for around £20-25. In their shops, or web-site is at www.richersounds.co.uk.
Best Home Theatre System?
Hitachi; Sony or other - which is the best `home theatre in a box` system? I want something smart; small and with a decent audio range without being over-bassy, with built-in DVD (hackable) player. Any suggestions?
RE: i need a hack for a bush 2000

BUSH DVD2000.....
Hey guys; any comments on this now ancient machine (well around 12 months old anyway)? I have one and its far superior to the 2002 models etc. I believe it`s basically a Panasonic inside - can anyone confirm this?
RE: BUSH DVD2000 - NTSC out on standby menu??
Hmmm - further thoughts - I presume it`s outputting an NTSC 3.5.8 signal that my TV can`t cope with? Is there any way of enabling RGB output on the BUSH`s scart socket?
BUSH DVD2000 - NTSC out on standby menu??
Hi - I have a BUSH DVD2000 (great machine) - it`s connected to my TV (A Matsui 32" Widescreen Pro-Logic) via an S-VHS/audio phono to scart cable. All is well except that the `DVD` logo displayed on power-up on the TV screen is in black and white (this is also the case via the composite scart to scart). This is the same with the menus. However, on playing DVD`s all is well - i.e. in colour (PAL) as are the menu items in this mode. On a Toshiba I have, this isn`t a problem i.e. the standby menu/logo is in colour. I am guessing that the DVD is outputting some form of NTSC signal to the TV (which my Matsui does accept - but only displays in B&W although I have tried changing the auto standard setting from `auto` to NTSC 4,4,2 and PAL to see if this makes any difference and it does not). Any comments?
