why are you bothering with this. If the scan was the only dvd player on the planet fair enough. Cost your time and you`d realise that your not buying a 170 quid player but 170 plus days of hassle and bullshit. I chrage my time at £40ph so can`t afford to sit on my ass all day.

Give it up and buy something that works.

And no I haven`t got an expensive sony I have an eclipse 595 from Richer sounds cost 159 and plays everything I try inc MP3 (although surely a dvd player is to watch films not heavily compressed music). Only had one and it worked if it had been faulty I would have gone else where or brought a different brand.

Come on watchdog lets have a story on this.

Surely the problem is with Scan here not the carrier.

A simple email to say it had been despatched would have sorted the delivery problem, (and Scan choose to use citylink).

If the box was sealed the scratch wouldn`t have been caused by cold weather - just poor quality control when it was packed.

And citylink aren`t to blame for old fimware or are they? perhaps we can blame the toy story 2 problems on them - did they deliver them to?

Is this a conspiracy?

Subway is this film available on DVD

As one of the few great things to come out of France is this film available (with english subtitles).

I`ve had this player for2 months. Haven`t tried either of the disc mentioned but it has played every disc I`ve put in it inc Gladiator, W&G and toy Story etc, plus vcd`s and svcd.

If you haven`t got one take the dvd into Richer sounds and get them to try it before you buy, or use the 14 day home trial to try it and if it don`t work take it back.

If you want to send me the patriot I`ll happily watch it to check......

As above saw it in curry`s this morning @ 350 & on www.qed-uk.com for 299.

The small speakers and quality of the box really appeal. Volume not a major issue.

RE: ECLIPSE DVD595 from Richer Sounds

I seem to have to alias`s here as me and as moose!

Anyway the eclipse 595 played the toy story 3 disc perfectly like it`s played everything else.

When I read about the warfedale problems etc I think that for 159 I really made a wise choice.

I cannot recommend this player high enough.

Picked mine up in Cambridge although they sold 2 while I was waiting to be served. Actually went to buy the cyber home but lack of scart was a complete no no.

Wasn`t bothered about auditioning in the store as Richer offers a 14 day return which I`ve used in the past. This player also plays SVCD created on cheap cd-r`s.

Your right about the looks althought whats the old saying about looking at the mantle piece while poking the fire, thankfully this player doesn`t act like a dog!

Got one today

so far played The world is not enough and a Winnie the Pooh DVD on both the sound and picture were excellent. Its got 5.1 outputs as well so I guess an av amp will be next.

Also created a couple of VCD`s from dv tape and both played ok on crap cdr`s

not sure about the patriot dvd but for 159 I don`t care.
