I did exactly the same as Robert Terwilliger with Mario Kart Wii. Being a Toys R us platinum card holder, I got some money off coupons and used one too redeme a fiver off. Lovely I thought saved a few bob..

However on the way back from the Govan branch of T R U I went to do the rest of my shopping in The Braehead shopping centre and spotted Mariokart Wii in Sainsburys for £27.99..... just slightly more than the deal from Asda......

Ok I currently have 13 Blu-ray movies and 11 HD DVDs... Out of the HD DVDs I would say that Batman begins looks amazing really crisp and clear... I actually saw alot more detail that I had missed on my standard DVD..

The Thing looked pretty good too... and of course the Matrix (haven`t watched the other 2 in the trilogy yet)......

As for the best place too buy I would say... Off lineand online it has to be Asda ( I have saved myself a bundle buying from my local Asda) I picked up Dejavu for £7 on Blu-ray last week. As for online it has to be Sendit.com, where i got the Spiderman trilogy for £32.99 on Blu-ray.......

I tried to get the legendary version, but sadly not a snowballs chance in hell of that happening. And after calling about 12 store I realiased that if I didn`t buy a copy soon I wouldn`t even get the limited box tin version.

So of I went to Woolies during my break and bought the tin box set for £37.99. Not had a chance to try it yet. Hopefully will get right into it later this evening.......

I left it running for hour with no movement what so ever... eventually the wi-fi connector just switches off and and disconnects the Wii...

I just don`t understand why it tells me the connection is good but can perform the update.....

PS I have all these games in my atic, but it`s nice too mess around with them from time to time on the Wii......

Memories memories

I knew I had played those lost levels before on the snes, I told my nephew that I had bought him the snes package with mario kart and another mario cartridge which had lots of other mario games on it. Forgot the name but now I see All stars on here it all comes flooding back...

I was going to buy the lost levels from the virtual store for my Wii, However I can`t log on too the store. This is because I haven`t updated my system in a while, I unplugged the cable from my Wii too the modem in favour of my PS3 and X-box 360. Now when I try to go to the store (which I still have 1000 points by the way). I can only connect through my Nintendo Wi-fi doogle.

Straight away it connects and tests the connection which it says is good,but then it tells me that in order too use this store I must perform an update. I click on it and it starts, but NEVER moves I have left it for hours and NOTHING happens ggggggrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry I didn`t mean too hi-jack your thread here but I thought other Wii users would have encountered the same thing or is it just me.......?

The strangest thing just happend, I decided to hook my 360 back online (it`s been offline since I change my Wii to a wired broadband connection) As soon as it connected It did an automatic up date on the system.

After it finnished I tried Smokin` Aces again and boom it works perfectly.... Runs like a dream.... Not sure if there was something in the update or weither it was just luck either way I just finnished watching it there just now......

Still can`t see where the standard DVD version is mind you.lol

I bought the HD-DVD of Smokin` Aces from my local HMV store on Friday..... It`s a Combo Disc (or so it says) but it`s my first combo. The only other 2 discs I own being Superman Returns and the fast and the furious Tokyo drift. These 2 work great on my X-box 360 HD-DVD drive....

However Smokin` Aces plays very jerky... like it`s missing fractions of the movie as it`s reading the disc and then stops...... Not a problem I thought I`ll just watch the standard DVD version on my 360 or on my Philips DVD recorder...Nope got nothing from it at all just spun around and spat it out...

It says on the back cover Side A High definition Side B stanard definition. But the disc has a printed label on the face of the disc... So I thought when I put it in that it would ask me which side I wanted to play.... Am I just being thick here or is this just an HD version and not a Combo version like it states on the cover.....?

Hmmmm not alot else too say...... thats it...... so go.. buy it if ya wanna.....

Me I bought the first one on the day of release and couldn`t get too grips with the controls..... Kept on using the Call of duty 2 controls insteed...... so only played it 3 times...... Still have it..... Might try again too see if I can play it now......

Did anyone else notice this.....?

I was browsing through Play.com for DVDs (as you do) when I decided to check out the deals on a PS3.......

They are selling the Console with a free HDMI cable and Click Blu-Ray disc for £425....

Not only that but they`re also selling 4 games cheap(ish) considering thay hav e just been released.......Motorstorm £29.99........ Resistance: Fall Of Man £29.99........... Ridge Racer 7 £29.99....... and Full Auto 2: Battlelines £29.99.......

I hope this helps anyone whose trying too buy one save a few quid....... Personally I`ll wait for a while until it comes down some more.... I know it might be a while..... but going by this,...... maybe not........

RE: Xbox 360 HD-DVD player - Where can I buy it from???

Hi there

I pre-ordered one from my local HMV (Braehead near Glasgow) last friday.... I got a call last night saying it was in store.... So I picked it up an hour ago.....

Getting one wasn`t a problem.... deciding which one of the few HD-DVD that were in stock too buy was.... The Blu-ray stand next to it had just as many (around 20ish disc) But the Blu-rays seemed to be more recent releases.... ie Click etc......

All the HD DVDs I either had on DVD or wasn`t interested in or in the case Of Doom both lol......

I almost bought Enter the Dragon...... But I have at least 4 copies of it on DVD already.....in varying different editions..... So that was out for a start..... I guess I`ll just have too go online and see what I can find.... ;)

Yeah I pre-ordered mine month ago, after getting an E-mail from my local HMV (here in Scotland). I was 8th on the list of pre-bookers, and the guy seemed to think that they were getting in at least 30-35 of them on the day of release.....

However he couldn`t say that I was definately getting one.... So we`ll have too see.... But it was the same when I pre-booked the PSP on release date and when I got there and there was loads of them....

I guess you just have to take your chances... what`s just as worrying is the launch titles... no one seems to be able to give me any assurances on what will or won`t be available on the day.....

RE: HMV Instore Sale

I picked up a few things on friday from HMV in the Braehead... Metriod Prime for the cube for £4.99 and Midway arcade treasures for my PSP for £9.99...

I was so tempted when I saw the Alien head box set.... I had already payed for the two games and Underwold Evolution when I noticed it..... It looks great so I got out £50 and went to get one of the 12 or so that were left..... when my brother said "where the h*ll are you gonna put it".....

And he was right.... my dvds already take up more room than I can spare.....so I just left it for now..... if there is any the next time I go in maybe I won`t be as strong willed...lol

Yeah I could of went nuts buying loads of DVD boxsets in the Play.com sale.... But insteed I just swooped in and got Ridge Racer 6 for my X-box 360 for £24.99

Not sure how good it is but I play the PSP version at work all the time so if it`s half as addictive then I`ve won a watch....

All in all it looks like a great sale.... just have to troll through all the sections to find what you are after.....

Bit of a strange question....... but hey.........

Is there any way that I can get my grubby little mits on a G R A W faceplate for my 360.... with out having to re-buy the game or folking out a fortune on E-bay........?

I know it`s just one of those gimicks and I shouldn`t fall for it but my 360 looks so plain... Besides who am I kidding I`m an ad execs dream I love all that guff..... wither its paying an extra £4 for an exclusive cover on a DVD...... or a slip case (especially HMV ones coz I live near one I guess)

I bought the "Woody" one coz I got it for nothing using a voucher.... I used it alot but after taking back my 360 (Coz it kept on freezing) I left it off the new one.... now it looks bare.....

I liked the Call of duty 2 faceplate........ but then I saw the G R A W on E-bay and thought it looked interesting........However they all seem to cost a bomb on there.......Besides I used to get my ex to use her PayPal account and give her the cash but we`re not talking........(women crazy creatures...... if only God didn`t make them so damn cute my life would be so much easier).....

Anyway I`m babbling..... does anyone have any ideas.......?

I just picked up my copy from T `R` U on my way back from Glasgow....... They sent me a get £5 off voucher coz I`m a platinium rewardcard owner........ So I went in and it was £44.74 with a free Neo S controler........ So I got it for £39.74 which isn`t too bad.

I suppose I could have got it cheaper online. But this was easier and faster....... So thats my entertainment for the weekend sorted..... 8)

Thats the same problem I have........ How did you manage to fix it.........? I can only get on too Live if I`m holding the cable at an angle..... Which is fine for looking through the market place but no use for actually playing on line........ As I would need both hands....... :/

No mate there is no problems linking your 360 with your NTL modem........ I just have a dodgey ethernet socket on the back of my modem thats all.... Of course I only found this out after I had tried everything that I and anyone else I could pester too help my cause could think of......LOL

Oh and Call of duty 2 ROCKS........ it was the first game I bought too and I had too buy it seperately........ But it was worth it..... Now I have C O D 2, PGR3 and DOA 4..... all damn good games in different ways.........

I`ve just re-started C O D 2 because when I migrated my live account from the origianal x-box live to the 360 one I lost my saved data.........But hey I`m loving another chance to play it from the begining......... 8)

NO mate it`s a the back of my modem is goosed problem........ it seems that some how my ethernet cable isn`t making full contact with the inside of the socket..... I only found it out coz I moved it around while swapping the ends about.......

I had never taken out the old x-box live cable and it worked great.. but either the end of the cable or the inners of the modem aren`t quite making contact.....that was next on the list of things to get sorted... I was gonna call in NTL and see if they could come in and check out my modem.........

I tried to download a demo of fight night 3 while I was in the shower....... was away for a good hour and it failed...... I would have to hold the cable with alot of force into the socket to keep it working........ So playing online is a no no....... unless I can find a way of playing one handed..........

Hey there folks.......

Just to let you know I got onto Live for a few minutes late lastnight/ early this morning..... and it wasn`t easy..... I did what Chris suggested and got back onto the M$ support line....... This time however the guy seemed too know what he was on about....... rather than just typing in my problem and reading out word for word what it said (not really knowing what it meant).........

His idea was the exact opposite of what anyone else came up with..... Previously I had been told to manually put in my details........ but NEVER touch the advanced settings..... Well he said to leave everything on automatic apart from the advanced settings..... He said unless the 360 had a password that my PC knew then it would not allow me access.......

So I had too change my P P O E.... UserName and Password....... plus call up my ISP (NTL) and get the final piece of info to complete that section...........Which I did......... and low and behold..... NOTHING........ Connection test said disconnected.......

By this time I was p*ssed right off so I started trying stupid things....... like laying the console flat instead of upright.........Trying my old ethernet lead..... and finally using the 360 lead only the other way around........ (Yeah I know stupid huh..)....But it did show me what was wrong.....

It took me just over 4 hours too get the thing too connect.... And then it took 3 attempts to download the update..... And then I had to fill in a few forms..... to migrate my account.....PLus it told me I would lose ALL my game saves.....Is this true....? It signed me out of my profile automatically to stop that........ However now I have an x-box live account and no gamer points....... and then a profile account with my gamer points.......Strange........

Chris I am using the supplied ethernet cable in the 360s box.......... My old X-box connects no bother.......... I`m connecting my 360 with the cable straight into the back of my cable modem in the ethernet socket........ I turn off everything for at least 20 minutes before restart and trying to connect........And this is my second 360 and I have the same problems..... machine runs great just won`t connect to Live.........It`s a tricky one huh..... It has me stumped anyway........ :/

I`m hopefull that you can put me out of my misery... I`ll give you some details to let you see how far I`ve got .....

I have been a member of x-box live since the release date for the original X-box.... So I was trying to access my old account (gamertag Bravesoul uk) which is up to date and still running........ The bloke from the support service checked my account and says I should have no problem migrating from original live to the new 360.....

This is the equipment I have........ The premium 360 pack..... the suppied ethernet cable........ Running straight into an NTL broadband modem.......

Ok here`s whats happening..... When I turn on my 360 and the menus come up...... I sign out of my profile to allow me too recover gamertag from x-box live......... However as soon as I do this it tries to connect but right away it goes too test connection..... And thats when it gets weird.... coz it never fails on the same thing........

When I called the M$ support line the guy told me to put my details in manually...... which I did and it was worse........ then after a few days I tried again and an American guy told me to change everything again.... so I did still nothing....... Everyone on the support lines tell me it`s a common fualt and easily fixed.... and yet they can`t fix it...... it`s getting to be a real pain.......

Well I have owned a 360 for a good few weeks now and still haven`t made my mind up yet... I remember seeing Jason Bradbury from the gadget show reviewing it and saying it was fantastic and a must buy.......... Hmmmmmmm I`m not so sure...

So far I have the premium pack.... Call of duty 2 PGR3, Dead or alive 4.... The media remote and the woody facia (what a wierd buy that was)....... I loved Call of duty.... great graphics and gameplay....... seemed to have the balance of difficulty just right too....... When you got wasted you always thought oh if I could just take out that tank before it fires... so it kept you coming back for more.....

PGR 3 well it looks fantastic and drives well but I hadn`t played any of the previous incarnations of it so I have zero experience with the kudos thingy....... I can drive like crazy but earn little points for it.......

Dead or alive I love..... I`ve unlocked all the costumes on the first difficulty setting and have just started on the next..... It`s very adictive and looks great.... The gameplay is sound to......... Although I do get abit hacked off when I take the guy I`m fighting too with in a micro millimetre of their death and out of nowhere they hit me with a 4836 hit combo.........GGGGGGRRRRR but great fun all the same......lol

I agree about the noise and the heat it is so annouying.... and can be offputting at times...

As for the easy set up... Well I set up the console no problem...... But dispite many atempts I still can`t get on too X-box live..... Which really is a bummer.....and this is my second 360 (Woolworths replaced it thinking that it was the console to blame for not connecting) Everyone says it`s much better than the original but I can`t comment.... :/

I guess all in all I expected more...... I thought it would blow me away but I`m still waiting.......waiting for the killer title that will prove its worth........ I hear that Ghost recon is supposed to be amazing....... That will be my next buy me thinks.....

PS I was in Glasgow yesterday to get my haircut and strolled into Woolies.... and they have loads in stock now..... Maybe I should have waited a few weeks before buying it.... But I couldn`t resist........lol

I just got a call from Woolworths a minute ago telling me that they have a full system waiting for me if I want to exchange the one I have for a new one....... Should I do this and see if it`s the machine thats at fault or am I just risking getting a 360 that might be worse than the one I have already.......

Everyone seems to think that it`s my PC settings that are too blame for me not being able to access X-box live and not down to a fault in my 360........

It`s a tough one......... :/

Thanks for the advice HD462 I went on to the forum and signed up........I couldn`t post any questions until my account is cleared..... So I just looked at everyones elses posts... And to my suprise there`s alot of people with the same problem as me........

However theirs seems to have been fixed by disconnecting everything... inputting all your details manually and saving them..... Then after a while starting everything up and logging on to X-box live....... I tried this a while back and it made no difference........ Infact it actually was worse when I run the connection checks.......

I`ll try posting my own question on there and see if anyone knows what to do...... I looked through all the details of my ISP and everythings in order....... So unless I have a week signal or something then it must be my settings that are off somehow......

I just had a thought......... Could it be my Nortons anti-virus.....? When I tried to install my Nintendo wi-fi conector it told me to turn Nortons off before installing it......... BUt that was way too risky..........

No mate I`m with NTL (a cable company here in Scotland) I`ve never had problems with my ISP before........ Seems strange to me that suddenly my set up is out of whack.......

I called the Microsoft 360 helpline on thursday and they said that there`s absolutely nothing wrong with my machine..... All I need to do is change a few "minor" things on my X-box live settings........ So I hung up and put in the 2 things I was told too (My host name and my physical address).... This made thigs even worse..... now when I scan the connections it won`t even goes as far as it used too.......

So I called them up again on friday night.... I think they must have patched me through to the American system....... So they guy on the other side of the phone took my details (which took forever) between my Scots accent and his American accent.... It wasn`t easy....... Plus he kept rapping away to himself as the computer was proccessing my account... Weird......

Anyway after all that was finally done he said all I need to do was get a few details from my PC and put them in the right places.... ie the Ip address etc etc..... So again I hung up and done that........ Now it tells me right away that the connection needs to be scanned..... And when I do it fails on one thing and then a totally different thing when I re-scan it........

So I called them again and they seemed to have given up by telling me to get on to my ISP and ask them to check everything is ok..... But surely if it works on my original X-box then it should work on my 360.........?

Meanwhile yesterday I bought PGR 3 and the multi-media remote....... Two things I have learned so far.......1 I have no idea how to get my 360 onto X-box Live....

And 2 I now suck at racing games....... LOL I blame Ridge Racer on the PSP for making me think I was good at racing games again....... I mean I rocked on Gran Tourismo and Gran Tourismo 2..... But when 3 A-spec came out I kinda lost interest.......I played it once or twice but couldn`t be bothered racing for 10 races just to buy new brakes..... But How could I resist PGR 3 after seeing those ads.......WOW

Good news...... Bad news....

As you know I just bagged myself an X-box 360 last friday.......

I played the a*se off Call of duty 2 and completed it late last night... What a game...... I`m gonna play it all the way through again on a harder level setting....... Thats the good news.....

Bad news......... I still can`t get on to X-box live....... No matter how hard I try it just tells me it`s unavailable........ Yet I can get on live with my old x-box no problem....... This makes me think that my 360 is fualty.....

Problem is how do I get a replacement....? The last I heard they were gonna take the fualty machines and repair them rather than give a replacement unit....... And it could take up too a month....... I just got the thing I don`t wanna lose it.... I had planned to get P G R 3 this week :(

I`m gonna get on too Woolworths tomorrow and see what their policy is on damaged machines........ Will I have to wait until they get more stock in.....? Either way I think I`m in for a few 360 free weekends..... :(
