RE: DivX player (MultiRegion maybe) £39 / £35 at whsmiths online

Wow that is bad news, I guess you have tried putting the Denver firmware in just to see if it will run and get back what you can? Not looking good for the xms firmware update either is it? Maybe we should either just be glad for the bargain we got or start mass emailing WHS for them to get on the back of Skyworth for a firmware update.

RE: DivX player (MultiRegion maybe) £39 / £35 at whsmiths online

http://www.moitah.net/ There`s the mpeg4modifier :D, surprisingly the avi is still the same size once it has been unpacked.

RE: free sim wit 10.00pound credit on it.. great hey.

I am proud to admit I hate bloody footie lol, but they were still generous enough to send me one :D

Cheapest 1mb Broadband £24.95 pm 512k only £16.99 inc vat

No restrictions on what you download and cheap migration (£11.95) add to that you only need to give 1 months notice then you just cannot resist. I asked about cross migration (512k to 1mb) about a month ago and they said it would be possible in the new year.

RE: suprnova closed for good!

I suspect it will only be good for a few more days anyway, the last torrents posted were yesterday before Supr finished. They went through hell last year with all the ddos attacks I don`t blame them for turning tail, they made their mark and I cannot see anyone coming close to such an aptly named site.

RE: DivX player (MultiRegion maybe) £39 / £35 at whsmiths online

There is instructions with the firmware saying you must name it to Skyworth.bin I think but that is all you need to do then burn it and update your firmware. Going back to the original_XMS989_firmware you could get it and if you do not see the results as you would like from the Denver firmware change back to those.

RE: DivX player (MultiRegion maybe) £39 / £35 at whsmiths online

Well here`s a shot of the chipset, I would assume that others using the same chipset would use the same firmware :/

Your right about the codes as well, I just checked mine and yes they are the exact same as the original_XMS989_firmware.

RE: LOTR - ROTK 4 Disc extended DVD - Wheres the cheapest??

I got the Collectors edition for £32 from Amazon with free delivery, now I have all 3 collectors editions :D but I will be on the hunt for this anyway as I never open the collectors editions, this would be to use not to look at so if i find the extended version cheaper I will let you know.

RE: DivX player (MultiRegion maybe) £39 / £35 at whsmiths online

The screenshots of the tv display look almost exactly like those on my Skyworth which I picked up today (btw tWHS did not phone me to tell me it had arrived I phoned them and it had been there for 2 days). The Bitrate of my xvids are around 1000 and looking at the review when following your link Kevin lower bitrate is why I have no problems.

RE: DivX player (MultiRegion maybe) £39 / £35 at whsmiths online

I understand your apprehension about not using the Yamada 6600 firmware however I have found a link which shows the 6600 and as you can see it is uncannily like the Skyworth. I will be getting mine as soon as it is delivered whether I have the coconuts to try a firmware update has yet to be seen lol. For the moment I have been trying to find out the exact chipset + number (I know it is mediatek) on the skyworth and from there I plan to find a firmware update for that chipset. I have also emailed Skyworth and told a fib about me trying a different firmware and it cocking up my machine just to see if I can get the original firmware just in case something messes up.

RE: DivX player (MultiRegion maybe) £39 / £35 at whsmiths online

I read somewhere else that this dvd/divx player is a rebadged Yamada 6600, I would link to it but the site finished only yesterday. It seems to me that if you are going to risk flashing the player with a `shot in the dark` firmware you might try flashing it with a more proven companys firmware like Yamada...just a thought.

if it was something essential that you could only afford to buy when stolen (ie: food, clothes for kids, etc..) then maybe... but a plasma screen tv????? i don`t hink you can justify that just because you can`t afford a full price one. (and if you have £600 around to buy a stolen one then you can hardly be as poor as you are claiming in the first place...)

Do you honestly believe I would keep a monstrocity like a plasma tv? No, I`d sell it.

Quote:
So now, because there is a market for this sort of thing, insurance premiums go up for all of us and the country`s thieving scum get a chance to `earn` a free living from those who work hard for what they have - whether that`s a lot or a little is irrelevant. It`s the fact that they have worked hard for it that counts.

...and I suppose you are of the thinking that killing someone to protect your goods is a righteous thing to do? You are talking about the ripple effect, so are you going to stop using the internet, because if you do use it as do many others it becomes cheaper, so people download pirate movies\music and mass producers of pirate copies\music are usually drug dealers subsidising their next shipment that they will sell to hard up mothers who in turn shoplift or don`t feed their kids and who in turn are abused :p

This man blows goats. I have proof....

Well I have a `modicum` more intelligence than you obviously have because I havn`t resorted to insults...so what does that make you, a goat blowing voyeur? :D

C`mon lets face it, your all taking the moral highground because it hasn`t happened to you when in reality, you may say yes, you may say no but none of you would take it further than that.

You also all seem to dismiss the fact that I do not agree with theft or actions of it`s kind, the gritty reality is it does happen and you have seen me as a tartget to release your frustration that you are powerless to stop it happening. Ever thought of running for parliament because they do the exact same.

Wow you are all super heroes who do absolutely nothing wrong (or at least don`t have the guts to be honest).

FYI:

I run a few forums, in one of them I have over 6,000 registered users (globally) and I asked the same question, 20% said they wouldn`t buy 60% said they would and 20% weren`t sure, 160 have voted since Saturday (I`d post the link but I don`t tollerate name calling in my forums).

RE: bargain hard drives from Bigpockets - introductory offer

A brilliant price, though I see both sides of the argument, what`s to complain about....they are sooo cheap :D

RE: Just a warning, in case you are offered one..

I am not condoning theft, I myself had my whole house emptied of anything valuable once while I was at work and it was far from pleasurable because I wasn`t insured. What I am saying is if the offer to get get something I would normally never reasonably afford then yes I would take it. If it was obviously stolen from a private household then I would spill the beans. You have to look after number one nowadays and help those around you but perfect strangers in a company that has £12,000 of tv`s as stock obviously doesn`t need the money as much as I do ;)

Next you will be telling me you have always paid for all your software/music etc and never downloaded using Kazaa etc....where do you draw the line?.

:) :)

RE: Just a warning, in case you are offered one..

Morals are great if you have the money, to put it in relative terms a £3000 tv to someone earning -£10,000 is like a £10,000 ring to someone earning £20,000, If you sacrifice everything else for a year you might be able to afford it.
Morals never fed a household or gave your kids their first holiday but a tv they could sell would :p ...but they`d feel like they were doing their part I suppose lol when they pay their taxes and to those whom they pay, don`t do theirs, the taxpayer has to do it for them :D

Who cares anyway, the company had insurance :D and I am sure the company was better off than the thieves.

RE: Just a warning, in case you are offered one..

Be serious, they never catch thieves anymore unless they are caught leaving the scene and even then it`s usually a picture off a speed camera :D because they are too bloody lazy to move from their comfy top of the line police cars with air conditioning :p

RE: Just a warning, in case you are offered one..

Gee, hmm, £1000 for giving up a criminal who will probably come around and bounce you off the walls, say no, or buy a 42" plasma tv for probably £600 decisions, decisions :/

Pentium 4, 3.06ghz 533fsb £61.03

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=60440

Need I say more, they are `used` ones and you may have to wait up to 7 days but to get a processor that is normally £150 for that price it`s worth a little time for a £90 discount.

RE: Radeon 9800 Pros for £160

Well just to update, the price I found has ended however, I have found one that is £140 and it`s not a special offer or oem....it`s at http://www.lowestonweb.com/Products/DisplayInfoMain.asp?e=2F99A0AD-B9A8-470B-B643-2A672531F699

btw P+P is free :)

RE: New base unit wanted

For that price (if you are able enough) you can build your own and have a pentium 4 3.0ghz (trust me this Pentium is a lot faster than even the 3200xp, I have proof ) with a 120 gig hard drive and you get to choose your case (within reason). You may have to shop around and buy from different sources but I have just done it for....£430 and if you already have a pc, some things you will not have to buy if you are willing to donate from the old to the new.

RE: Find it Cheap then get 10% off

:( What a crock of ...., very misleading, maybe they used to be solicitors :D I`m sorely tempted to find something that they have for over £300 and hopefully find it for £200 just to spite them :D

:) :)

Find it Cheap then get 10% off

cd-writer.com/ Their policy is that if you find anything they sell, cheaper, anywhere on the net, they will match it and knock 10% off ;) Pricematch policy With this being a DVD forum I am sure someone could make use of this :D

RE: Radeon 9800 Pros for £160

The lengths i go to, to help people out...I signed up just to reply to this thread lol.

I bought a geforce3 Ti 500 18 months ago and only now am I having difficulty with games i.e Far Cry so i am on the look out for a new card. I was going to go for the 9800se but there`s only a 50/50 of softmodding and the 9800se as standard does not live up to the 9700pro so it is best to buy the 9800 pro and be sure and done with.

For the real bargain, if you don`t mind oem is this one 9800 Pro if you can find cheaper (I did but lost it, it was £122) then I would like to see it ;)
