RE: Virgin Media Users...

i pay £40.50/month for xl bb, xl phone, xl tv but for 2 vm boxes...i have this for 12 months and importantly i also have it in writing - email and typed letter headed paper as i dont trust vm to honour their deals....been with ntl for 7 years and vm for 1 year now

also, last year vm paid me over £150 in refunds for poor service, etc (esp their appalling indian bb call centres who know f all about telecoms/computers - i do as im a freelance telco/it contractor) so my xl bb service and large phone service (didnt have tv at the time) effectively cost me less than £100 for 12 mths

vm is getting better tho after a rocky last year

RE: Bush Digital Tv for 49p

duh?

Perhaps an education in simple contract law wouldnt go amiss then.......if it was a mistake then why did they take the money.....tough luck!

bet if its the other way around and they after money from you...they will use the full force of the law.....try it.....then we`ll see you opinion after that.

didnt benefit with this one myself.....

RE: Chart Games £22.99 at PC World with free postage!

Thanks.....although i had the misfortune of buying Forza Motorsport...this has to be the most overrated garbage I have played.....near unplayable, all cars handle and brake like fat overweight american crap cars.......fraid the game is all looks and no gameplay.....ive never driven such a twitchy subura....hiccup and your off the track!! TOTALLY UNREALISTIC

as i said no cars have brakes.....press well before, an unnaturally early before a bend....and nothing happens....oh well just bounce of the wall.....crap rock music sound track too....which i hope i can change.....will keep playing in the hope im wrong......why cant developers take a leaf out of Konamis Pro Evo 4 book and make games PLAYABLE!

RE: Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (Xbox) £6.96 @ Amazon UK

Its about 1000 times better than Fifa.

If we are talking cars.......fifa is a trabant and pro evo is a ferrari....it really is that much better...have most of the fifa series and whilst its ok, you dont feel like you are in control.....the playability, sound, commentary and graphics are ALL MUCH MUCH better.....as a footie fan...ist the best game on the Xbox, closely follwed by Halo

RE: PC World are not always expensive - branded DVD recordables (8x) on offer

still a pretty good price for verbatim but i dont think these branded ones are any better......at www.svp.co.uk (or www.blankdisc.co.uk) you can get 25 spindles for £3.98

postage isnt expecially cheap but ok if you order a lot.

RE: MISPRICE - Futurama Season 1-4 £14.99

i dont shop in companies that give me back service.....bought a freezer in comet and i am still waiting for compensation almost 18 months later!!

I have and will not set foot in their shop...their loss.

Remember Laskys? Their staff management had the crap attitude you had...yeh worth lots of money, etc ,etc and they soon went out of business.

Mind you they WERE bad...bought a commodore 64 from there and it developed a fault on the first day...they said it would have to be sent away for repair...er but ive only just bought it.....they wouldnt replace it or refund us....so it was sent away.....took FOUR weeks to sort....this, after a solicitors letter threatening legal action!

I cheered when they went bust.....even laughed at the a-hole manager the following day.

RE: MISPRICE - Futurama Season 1-4 £14.99

I work in Service Management and it is this attitude which i cant stand!!! I`m self employed and work as a consultant advising Customer Service Centres and best methods and I obtain alot of work because of the abysmal state of Customer Service these days.....they should close down these centres and start again and employ people who know what they are doing.

Whsmiths arent worth £1 billion and are in fact having a tough time because:-

1) they have rested on their past fortunes
2) are not competitve

RE: Battery Bargain ?

Er. You use recharged Alkalines in kids toys but have concerns of safety issues with the nimh batteries....eh? Surely the other way round?

NIMH are apparently the most environmentally friendy type of battery, unlike Alkaline.

been using NIMH`s before this country even bothered to sell them...then eventually the uk woke up and shops started selling them at the usual rip off uk prices

nimh batteries are ideal for kids toys...as log the kids dont eat them as with any other battery

nimh are still ridicously expensive in this country....brother lived in the states for several years where 4 x 2300mah rated aa`s could be bought for under £2...think theyre even cheaper now

nimh batteries are crap for trickle feed appliances like smoke alarms....best to use lithium or alkaline.....nimh`s are good for digi cameras, remote control toys...items used regulary

as for recharging alkalines....a sure fire recipe for disaster....

RE: Nokia 7600 now only £39.99 @ Amazon (no calltime purchase necessary)

you can download movies, etc, but cant use this phone for video calling as the phone`s firmware for video calling is not compatible with the 3 network.

master and commander was my turkey of the year....even watching paint dry was more exciting....when they played music in the captins quarters...it went on and on and on and on...zzzzzzzz

RE: Argos clearance 75% *OFF* loads of items, starts Fri Oct 8

dont worry ive reported the scumbag to ebay customer services....

RE: COMET CLEARANCE

totally agree with you beth...in most cases you can buy it brand new cheaper or slightly more at other sites

Personally i think comet staff are bidding on the items to push up the price.

RE: Building a PC from Scratch

A colleague has just bought one of the Aldi PC`s so will wait and see what its like..its seems like a good deal..worked out it would cost 700 to build yourself without software/windows XP and 3 yr support (worth 2p?).

Only downsides are:-
only spare PCI slots..but you get virtually everything anyway
Graphics card - not sure if XXL is a misprint, new card or hybrid
No monitor - minor prob really
No windows disk just a recovery disk, so i guess the hard disk has been partitioned with the recovery data and therefore eating up some of the h/disk space.
Notmany spare slots for additional drives ie. zip drives

RE: External 3.5

ebuyer.co.uk or maplins probably do them

to be honest thats why alot of people build them from scratch..upgradability...you dont necessarily save alot although 5-6 years you could easily save 50% like i did...now its more like 20% if you`re lucky.

I think with Dell you have to buy their..costly..memory as well...

As others have mentioned the Aldi PC is a good spec..not sure whether the ATI graphics card is a hybrid though as never of the model number, 9800 XXL - unless its a misprint

RE: Bluetooth Headset

Sorry thats the Motorola HS810

RE: Bluetooth Headset

I work for a mobile company....it does depend upon which phone you have..bluetooth may be a standard for compatible phones but there are big differences in quality

the jabra is good and has good battery life - 8hrs talktime and is relatively cheap

Ericssons are generally poor..my colleague has one of the better Ericsson ones but if you like talking to daleks in a baked bean tin then fine

Following tests I was told that the motorola H810 is the best one in terms of compatability. It has a good battery life but not quite as good as the jabra - 5 hrs talktime, it is small and the boom folds and also when you fold the boom calls revert back to the handset which is handy. Its light but I dont think its the best fit around the ear, so try it first!

I have a Sony Ericsson T610 (why did I get this crap phone for work!) and the Motorola headset and it works perfectly well
