Firstly I have no axe to grind so I dont want to head down that road where we bitch about who`s player does what etc etc...

As for the Ali G comment yea sure it`s all just a bit of fun that unites us Aiwa owners, the only reason I chose the name cus I was sick of reading oh there goes so and so nicking my XXXX ROCKS !!!! sig that I thought oh well lets have a sig that anyone who supports the continual progression of DVD products can sign off to without anyone getting hacked off....
And Jimbo yes Aiwa is the product I Brought( You showed me the light Jimbo) and Massive stands for the following we WILL have.Oh and BTW this is all harmless fun to entertain us all whilst spending hours on the PC neglecting our Misses..

RE: Whats` so Good about the Aiwa 370?

For £199.00 this player is superb I echo all of the above apart from the banding I havent had any problems with this at all. This is my third player and by far the best, every disk I`ve thrown in it it`s played them no problem. Also region hackable via the remote p%&s easy...

Calm down now you`ll have yourself a hernia, In a previous thread (Ironduke R1 3 Kings o.k) you will see I have nothing but respect for the duke even if I did pull his leg at first. I do not agree with slagging off anyone`s DVD were all in it together and customers advice is always the best. The only reason I formed AIWA MASSIVE was to unite all AIWA owners just as the duke has done with his Hitachi boyz, hopfully then when new idea`s, hacks etc come forward we all can benifit.
Finally dukey invented the Aiwa 370 Rocks!!!!! so its time for a new signiture. So come on stand alone and be proud.

Just read all the info on the forums on the AIWA 370, you will see me on there post asking AIWA 290 pants is the philips 711 any better.

To cut a long story short I took the sound advice off the Duke, Jimbo and Jezebabes and purchased a Aiwa 370 from Comet it plays everything including MP3`s which the philips dont I swear you will not be disapointed and for £199.00 it`s a bargin....

As promised I have watched R 1 Three Kings tonight on the Aiwa 370 and have not had a problem it must have been Jimbo`s tele.?????

And to echo Jimbo full respect to you for pointing Jimbo and myself to comet and the Aiwa 370. Without your sound advice I would still be belly aching over the 290....

You will be looking for a long time I had my 290 for three months and couldn`t get it to do a dam thing.

My advice find a fault and take it back and upgrade to the Aiwa dv-xd370
this machine is golden. Plays cdr cdrw video cds mp3`s and is hackable via the remote.....

Dont bother with any of the above trust me I`ve just been in the same situation as yourself.

My Advice and possibly of Jimbo, Dukey and Jezebabes is the Aiwa 370 this machine is priced at £199.00 from comet and does all of the following

Plays mp3, CDR, CDRW and Video CD`S it has scart or s video connection with a digital option and also is region hackable from the remote just do the following

1. Switch on
2. Press pause then key in 314159
3. Player display will then say enter code (meaning Region Code)
4. Enter 1 or 2 depending on region or 0 for all regions
5. Press pause again
6. Switch off (wait approx 10 seconds)
7. Switch on and enter reg 1 disk
8. Watch your movie it`s as easy as that. Enjoy.....

Then you can pass the info on to Jimbo and weve both done our bit for the cause...

I was in the same position as your good self today, after reading jezebabes comments on the Hardware forum I Decided on the Aiwa 370 and after setting it up about 2 hours ago I can not fault it.

It plays CDR, CDRW, Video cd and MP3 region hack is a peice of cake and all for £199.00 from comet, go on make the right choice and join the Aiwa posse you wont regret it.

If you dont you will need to have a serious word with yourself...

Why would I want to watch 3 kings or fight club on reg 1 when I own them on reg 2 anyway.

This seems your only winge about the Aiwa do you have anything else other than this overused girls chat or are you still a little gutted that DVD Review only gave your Titsarchy 5/10 and quote "Badly let down by sub-par picture quality!!!!!!!!!!! Issue 4 2000

Going for a refund

Hi Guys Ricardo again thanks for your advice but the situation is getting worse. I`ve been back to the shop today and the Philips is out of stock!!!

They have the following to choose from:

Philips 711 (out of Stock)
Bush 102
Amstrad 850
Grundig 110

Do I wait for the Philips or swop to one of the above.

I stil need it to read cdrs,crw,silvers video cd`s and be region hackable.

My final option is to demand a refund and then buy what?????? budget being £200.Looks like going for the Aiwa 370....

Aiwa XD-DV290 Pants is the Philips 711 a better option????

Currently have the aiwa xd-dv290 which claims to play cdr and cdrw`s and once I`d purchased and unpacked found that it did no such thing!!!!
After a debate with the shop I purchased it from they are now allowing me to swop.The options are as follows:

Samsung 709, Philips 711 and a grundig priced at £149 they couldn`t tell me the model number?

I would like the player to read cdrs, cdrw and video cds also be able to play region 2 with macrovision disabled.
Now I know thats a lot to ask but reading the reviews on the board tells me to swop to the philips 711 would this be the best choice?????
