Sweeney Series 2 Disc 4 tech. problem

Has anyone noticed the low resolution look to the episodes contained on Disc 4 of the Sweeney Series 2 box set?
Any movement happening on screen breaks into chunky digital blocks, the faster the movement, the worse the blocking.
The problem is evident across all episodes on the disc, however the first and forth episodes seem to be the worst.
One example in the first episode:Regan arrives at the scene of the bank robbery in the squad car[about 5 or 6 mins into the ep.] The camera captures the arrival with a fast pan right to left with some bystanders in the foreground. The movement of the car breaks up into a digital mess. As the pan continues across the bystanders, note the person the red jacket, you will notice that the edges of the jacket become badly sawtoothed and the solid colour becomes blocky.
I have returned the disc and received a replacement which suffers from the same problem. This spoils what is otherwise a great box set...
Anybody else noticed this?
