Cheap DVD Players

I am looking for a cheap DVD player that can play DVD+RWs. This is purely for using when my DVD recorder is in use.

Most of the ones I see in Argos,Asda etc don`t mention the ability to play DVD+RWs on the box although an old Alba DVD113 I used to have could do this.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

RE: Another Philips DVDR75 Problem

I appreciate your comments.

I may lurk for a while licking my wounds but I will be keeping an eye on you so I may appear again.

This forum does not support my Firefox browser so I can not insert any smilies which may have given my snotty replies the tongue in cheek tone with which they were intended.

Have a good holiday. (not Scotland I hope) LOL.

Ogster

I came to this forum to try and get advice on a new DVD Recorder which I had a problem with.

Of course it may solve the problem to buy a different machine but surely trying to fix the problem with my own machine is the best option.

Your replies have went from abusive to threatning. I realise you did not like any of my replies to you but your abuse is not necessary and also against the rules of these forums.

I have as you have said looked at advice you have given in the past and you are obviously a regular contributor so maybe it is just me you have singled out for this type of treatment.

Either way I have through these exhanges got my problem solved (hopefully permanently) and shall go back to being a reader and not a poster on these forums.

I am sure you would like me if you met me. Have a nice weekend.

RE: Another Philips DVDR75 Problem

Hi John72

It unlocked the system although form your post perhaps I never made myself clear on the original problem.

The system was not locked when I purchased it in fact I had used it for a couple of days and only had the problem when coming in from work hoping to have the timer recordings I had set up.

Thanks again.

Ogster ??? your family must be so proud of the way you conduct yourself.

RE: Another Philips DVDR75 Problem

Thanks for your constructive reply John 72. I have done as you suggest. Unfortunately with a problem of this type only time will tell if it solves the problem but fingers crossed.

I agree PGibbs there are some people who can`t see beyond their own equipment. Thankfully there are some genuine helpful people on the forums too.

Thanks again.

John.

RE: Another Philips DVDR75 Problem

I am glad you are pleased with your panasonic but unfortunately it does not help me with the problem that I came to these forums for.

Anyone with any real advice?

Another Philips DVDR75 Problem

Hi

I got the Philips DVDR75 (in the UK) last week and up until now have been delighted with it.

Last night I came home to find my display reading BLOCKED.I had set up 3 timer recordings but assume this had happened after the second because the third was not on the disc.

No advice in instruction manual so telephoned the Unhelpful helpline to be told that this is caused by either static build up or lightning. No lightning here so they say the cause is static build up. Nothing they can do apparantly. Just something that may happen from time to time.

Now lost confidence in getting my timer recordings and pretty annoyed at the shoulder shrugging attitude of the helpdesk.

Anyone had the same problem or has anyone got any advice.

I know this sounds lazy but I would like to solve this problem if possible as I bought the DVD online so a wee bit more hassle returning it faulty.
