RE: £30 to anyone who knows a working hack for a Philips LX9000R Home Cinema System.

Regionhack for all Philips DVD players
The good news is that this hack works (should work) with all known firmwares and models. Also other good news is that this hack supports all regions. In other words: After entering the code, you can play any disc from any region. The best news about this hack is that RCE protected discs should be no problem!!
The bad news is that you need a special remote to use it. That`s the only bad news ;)

How the hack works
First you have to issue a special IR command RC6, codeset 4, key 235 (decimal). Then the rest of the code should be entered normally. So the code is

RC6 code 222 222 005 255 PLAY

You can send the RC6 command using a certain type of programmable remote control. If you want to know if it can be done using your programmable remote, you`ll have to find out yourself. I don`t have the means and time to find out if a certain type can be used or not. The ones I know the RC6 command works with, are listed here.

OneForAll (URC7560)
OneForAll (URC4300)
Palm (V)
Philips Pronto
Philips SBC RU880
OneForAll (URC7560) (many thanks to Allan Verth)
The RC6,4,235 code is can be sent using a OneForAll universal remote. To do so:

The remote should be set up to control the DVD (setup code 0539).
Then press the DVD button
Press the Magic button
Press 085. After the 085 the familiar dashes on the front panel display should appear.
And now enter the code (if you want, you can do that with the standard remote):
222 222 005 255 followed by PLAY

OneForAll 6 (URC4300)
The RC6,4,235 code is can be sent using a OneForAll universal remote. To do so:

This Remote does not do DVD commands natively. I (that means Kevin) was about to buy a One4All with the DVD button when I remembered the One4All website does remote downloading. So....I found there is a way to change the AUX2 button to DVD button.

Goto www.oneforall.com. Select the European English site
Click on "Product Support" at top of page
Click on "Universal Remote Controls"
Click on "One for All 6 "....at bottom of page
Click on "Internet Download"
You need to Register to gain access, takes 30 secs, password arrives in mail
Click "Next" at bottom of page
Select from "Laser Disk Players" --> "Phillips -1" (This is what contains the Phillips DVD codes)
Click "Submit" at bottom of page
Follow instruction on screen on how to program your remote
Click "Next"
This page tells you how to "test" which code will work
My Phillips 710 was the "7" key
Bingo, now the remote can be used to program the RC6
Palm (V) (many thank to RsstX)
You don`t have a One4All remote? Are you a Palm owner? Well, in that case this is your lucky day. Using the famous OmniRemote software from Pacific Neo-Tek it is possible to use the code. OmniRemote is the application changing the Palm into a programmable remote control.
Using the correct pdb file, which can be downloaded here, it is possible to use the RC6 code. When you use the pdb file, you will see a Omniremote screen with the "secret" key. Press the "secret" key to change the DVD player`s display into the famous dashes. You can now enter the code with the standard remote:

222 222 005 255 followed by PLAY

Philips Pronto
You don`t have a One4All or Palm (V)? Then you can use the Philips Pronto.

Connect the Pronto to your pc.

Start the program Pronto edit (Version 1.05. You don`t have 1.05, download it here)
From the menu select `Device` followed by `Add Device`. A new `Device` will apear in the list on the left.
Go to the `Properties` of the `Device` you just added (left-click on the `Device --> Properties`)
Go to the tab `Action`
Click `RC5/6`. A new window will appear (see picture below). Select `RC6 mode 0`
Enter the value 4 at `System`
At the `Command` enter: 235
