RE: mpeg 2 AVI codec viewers??? what does it all mean?

Just a couple of things. Targa DRH-5000 is this the machine you are using?

Are the unedited versions you have playing ok from the hard drive?

If yes to the above. Then the problem I think you are having is when you split the video to take out the adverts and recombining them if that is what you are doing.

This problem sometimes happens when you join the edited files back together, there can be a delay from the picture and audio.

You can do as the tech people said and re-encode it to avi then edit it. Or you could just record the individual clips to the blank dvd.

Send a bit more info on how you are editing the recorded content and I maybe able to help a bit more.

Cheers

For all Lite-On users. Great site found!

:) Not sure if this has been posted before.

I found a great site for all lite-on dvd recorders www.liteonusers.org.uk.

As I was going to upgrade my 5005 machine to their new 5045 with 160 gig hard drive and still needed the macro hack I searched for ever till I found this site.

The hack worked great for my UK machine and I am very happy with the new machine. Lite-on has made another good budget machine in my view.

The above site has lots of tips for all lite-on machines so pop along and i am sure you will find what you need.

cheers

PS: sorry if the site has been posted before!

RE: lite on lvw5005 macrovision hack

Update on the Macro hack.

I have been on another board and seen this new program that can update your firmware if you have download different file from liteon.

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.php?select=LiteOn+LVW-5005

Look for Mr Wizards hack post on this board. Please note I have not tried the program but a few have from all accounts.

If you do need the program if the link goes down let me know and I will email it.

Hope that helps out.

Cheers

RE: lite on lvw5005 macrovision hack

For all of you that still want the hack for this dvd recorder here you go. You will need winrar.

You will need to save the below files and rename them. (these are not real image files!)

Once you have saved them you will need to rename each file to .rar instead of .bmp ( just change the file type nothing else) if you need help on doing this just ask I will be happy to help.

Once you have the three .rar file`s click on part one and winrar will do the rest.

You will then have the complete file and just burn LNFBE076.DSU file onto cdr/rw and place in the dvd recorder it will do the rest.

Here are the links.

http://www.freespaces.com/bynot/lnfbe076.part2.bmp

http://www.freespaces.com/bynot/lnfbe076.part3.bmp

If you have any problems will the links above and can not right click and save them go here and try to save them. http://www.freespaces.com/bynot/lvw5005.html

If you have any problems just email me 8052norebyc[at]moc.liamtoh or post here.

UPDATE! the hack will also record sky box office movies.

UPDATE! A few people have emailed me that they are having some problems trying to update the firmware. Just a few pointers, I got my recorder from Argos in November 2004. I used the official firmware from liteon (LNFBE076.DSU) Not the new ones on thier site now. (I still have the original file if you need it.) Then I used the hacked firmware (LNFBE076.DSU) and this worked fine for me. I hope this will help you out.

RE: Liteon LVW 5005

boden01,

Many thanks for the hack details, worked great on my machine. Macro disabled and the 3hr record. For those who don`t know you will have to rescan the tv tuner and setup you system.

Does anyone know if this will defeat sky box office movies?

Cheers all. :)

RE: Firmware on LiteOn LVW 5005

I have had the same problem as far as I can tell the new firmware from the official site has yet to be modified.

I tried to update the modified firmware before and after I did the official update and neither time it worked. I also noticed the difference in file types between the firmware files "seemed strange to me"

Sorry I can`t be any help just wanted to add a coment.

Cheers.

LVW-5005 from argos

Well like a lot of people this week I have just got the LVW-5005 from argos. The setup was very easy to do. The region hack also works very well had no problems playing any disks. The only thing I am unable to do is the macrovision and 3hr hack, the machine just spits the disk out.

The offical firmware update works with no problem, but what I did notice was the the modified firmware has a different file type ( LNFB2063.D00 modified LNFBE076.DSU official) now if anyone can tell me is it the differance in the file type that is making the modified firmware unable to use on the machine.

Any help would be great.

PS: my first post so forgive if I have do anything wrong.
