RE: PS2 Backups

Sorry if i`m being thick here but how do you hook the HD up to the ps2, where does it plug in? is it in the expansion slot behind the removeable panel?

RE: Help needed in lamens terms to set up dvd/video etc

Hi Nat,

It sounds like a similar set up to mine with the 3 scarts on the telly.

Here`s how mine is set up

My video and sky both have 2 scart sockets, i have one lead connecting the sky to the video and a lead from the video and a lead from Sky into the back of the telly. This set up allows me to record sky providing I set it to the correct channel, My telly is a Phillips and the scart sockets are called Extensions, so I have to set my video to Ext2 to tape Sky.

Hope that helps, if it doesn`t explain a bit more and I`ll try again.

Awkward DVD Player?

This has bugged me for ages and was wondering if anyone else has the same problem.
I`ve got a Sony DAVS-300 all in one player and amp and it`s got a couple of annoying habits.

First off it reguarly skips and judders when playing rental discs even though the discs are not particuarly dirty or marked, although it plays all of my own personal discs fine but then again they are all in perfect condition ;). I`ve tried cleaning the heads on the player using one of those cleaning discs and i`ve got a disc cleaner but it doesn`t normally make any difference. But if I then put the same disc in my PC dvd player it plays fine. Are Sony players over sensitive?

Also the dvd player is hooked up to the telly with an S-Video lead. The tv has front ports so the cable is bent back to go into the player. Sometimes when we are watching films on it and this particulary happens if it is a dark scene a 2 inch dark line come vertically down the screen and then seems to fade away.

I don`t think it`s the tv as it never does it without the dvd players, is it the player or could it be the S-video lead?.

Anyone else had anything like this happen?

RE: buying a new dvd help

I bought a Skyworth machine from WH Smiths for 29:99 and it plays anything that I`ve thrown at it, mucky rental discs, region 1`s, avi`s, mpegs etc. It`s certainly more reliable and less annoying that my £550 Sony all in one, but that`s another thread..

RE: The Official Celebrity Big Brother Thread

it would be really funny if Bez got John doing his crazy dance.

Bridgette is a psycho, does anyone else remember her `appearance` on Fantasy Football 98, i think she may have been under the influence..

RE: fly drive holiday in california

In October 2003 we went for our honeymoon to California, flew to LA and then rented a car and drove down to a place outside San Diego called La Jolla. Which is only 15 mins away from the city and is an ideal base. Stayed there for a week and then went back to LA to fly to SF for a week.

Didn`t really see much of LA but I would recommend our hotel the Crowne Plaza LAX.
Good Rates, Clean and Safe and they also sell Krispy Kreme donuts in the lobby.

San Diego is a fantastic place to go to and I would recommend going to the Zoo. La Jolla is a beautiful place and I would love to go back. It`s a quiet seaside town along the Pacific, we stayed at the Scripps Inn which is on the ocean front.

San Francisco is very exciting and full of life, we did a citytour on the first day from Fishermans Wharf it is very touristy but it`s great to get your bearings for the city.
Going to Alcatraz at night is amazing, but make sure you book your tickets online as you will have to queue for ages to buy them when your there. Also make sure you where something warm, i`d read all the reports saying how cold it was but I thought they were exagerating ,believe me they are not, it`s bloody freezing on a night!
