RE: Advice on DVD Recorders with DivX / XviD playback ..

Thanks RikD.

AFAIK all recorders record in MPEG. I imagine Dolby Digital costs more and there is no real reason they need to use it. All DVD players support MPEG sound.

It sounds like you`re now happy with the picture quality?

RE: Advice on DVD Recorders with DivX / XviD playback ..

Thanks RikD

1. So far at least... I`m fairly fussy when it comes to picture quality. My wife and others think it`s great, so maybe it`s just me.

It sounds like it was just the reviewer or he had a dodgy pre-release DVD player to test. No one here has complained.

What is your TV size?

2. Not really multi-region. But it`s easy to change the region code using instructions on Scan. I usually leave it as Region 0 and if I come across RCE discs just change it to the required region.

That`s fine with me. That`s essentially multi-region then. I`d leave it as R0 too. There isn`t many RCE discs out there.

3. Haven`t tried this as my DAP doesn`t support the USB Storage standard. But documentation states only 128Mb stick and my 256Mb definitely works so maybe it can access more - note: another MP3 stick which has 2 drives didn`t work.

A memory stick with two drives, huh?

RE: Advice on DVD Recorders with DivX / XviD playback ..

Hi I`m new here but not forums generally.

That player looks very nice, it`s a pity it doesn`t support DVD-R as well but that`s only a minor niggle.

I have three questions regarding this player:

1. I take it no one else apart from that reviewer has an issue with the brightness on the scart if using RGB?
2. Can this be bought multi-region or is a handset hack available?
3. I see it has a USB port and can read a USB memory stick but what about a MP3 DAP (i.e - Ipod)? Such as the iRiver that assigns itself a drive letter in windows just like a memory stick.

Could you then play music through it using this and/or JPEG?

Thanks
