RE: lord of the rings any info?
Yep it looks like it`s gonna be a good one to buy. You also get two more discs worth of extras and I believe the extra special version has nice packaging and bookends plus a bonus disc but this is to be confirmed...
Shame they didn`t just release this version the first time though (coining the money as per usual.) As tempted as I was to buy the original two months ago, the wait now doesn`t seem that bad :)
RE: Anyone else got problems with clouding of Rocky Boxset?
Hmmm... Just checked out my Rocky Boxset.
When you say clouding, do you mean the edges of the disc looking slightly darker and jagged? I have this problem slightly on my Rocky III disc....
RE: STAR WARS DVDs
Many of the bootleg discs are actually copies of the Laserdisc Special Edition released a few years back so while not quite being as good as DVD in terms of picture, they are however better quality than their official VHS counterparts. Not that I condone anyone buying them OH HELL NO!
Come on George give us the films NOW!
BTW I have read the Indiana Jones Trilogy should be released on DVD by the end of next year incase you didn`t already know.....
RE: TOSHIBA FIRMWARES
Ok thanks people, so we have established the difference between firmware upgrades and the internet available files which change the region properties on 120/220`s.
At least this proves in part some Tosh`s can be hacked even if it requires a bit more hassle with burning cd`s etc.
Based on this theory I see no reason why if it were available, a binary could do the same for older players like my SD100E to allow the player to enter the auto region mode.
In the meantime, can anyone recommend a cheap chipping company because some of the charges by companies are astronomical and not far off the price of a new multiregion player.
TOSHIBA FIRMWARES
I`ve read a lot about the firmware hack updates which apparently work for the Toshiba SD120E and SD220E. Does anyone know if it works on the SD100E which I have or other variants?
If Toshiba firmware is generic (which I dont know if it is) there shouldn`t be a problem. However I`m reluctant to go ahead and flash my ROM with something incompatible which could ultimately render my player useless.
I am aware the SD100E is capable of firmware dynamic upgrades. Any suggestions if this would work or, where I might obtain a binary file compatible with my model?
Thanx!
RE: Toshiba SD100E Region Hack, PLEASE...
I have tried the hack posted by palmiris and can confirm it DOES NOT work (which is probably a good thing because I would not be able to convert back to watch my larger collection of R2 titles!) Besides that does anyone out there think that maybe there is the possibility this machine must have a test mode of some kind - any TOSHIBA engineers out there??
