RE: WAL-MART ILO DVDR04 - Hack needed

For anyone out there interested, the ILO DVDR04 has now been *ROLLED BACK* to just $98 bucks at Wal-Mart. They are advertising it as the DVDR05 model, but all the boxes in stock are the DVDR04. Pretty cool, since LITE-ON makes this recorder. The DVDR05`s are made by a DIFFERENT manufacturer, so get the 04`s while there are still some left, since there are many hacks on the net, plus a firmware upgrade that fixes ALL the glitches that many consumers have complained about in re of this machine.

Also, please note that LITE-ON told me over the phone that the machine will not read certain name brand CD-R/RW discs: Phillips/Magnavox, Memorex, and another one, I don`t remember which; however, it does read MAXELL discs, and they will read the ILO brand discs, as well. Maxell and ILO discs are priced cheap, and the recording quality is crap in SLP (6-HR) mode, and decent in EP (4-HR), but I`d recommend the SP or HQ modes, but you will only get 2 hours in SP mode, and 1 hour in HQ mode. So, if you`re gonna do TV episodes, you`ll need alot of discs to get all of those shows burned in a good quality burn.
