Standard 1 years warranty does not cover accidents, 3/5 year cover does.

At Comet you get the value of your original item to choose a replacement (if the item is not repairable or not economical to repair) with the 3/5 year cover and the remainder of the 3/5 year cover goes towards new item.

I recently got a new 1gig Athlon base unit (with G-force 2) to replace my wifes P2 350 and all it cost me was £179.99 for the 5year cover, an estimated saving of £690.

I also got a new £479 Bosch washing machine after mine packed up and the cover on that was £174.99.
A saving of over £950 on just 2 items!......hope my £1700 tv dosent fall off it`s stand after 4.5 years...........

The Smart DVD2000 can play the RCE
discs (Region Code Enhancement). below , we show you how.
If you press these buttons in order
Open, 7, 7, play
This will give you our factory menu
If you go down the options you will see "country code"
On the right hand side of that you will see the number 13 (13 is ALL region)
~ Once over the country code press select, you will see that the number 13 disappears and is replaced by --
If you then use the up and down direction buttons the lines will change to numbers
1 to 6 being region numbers.
Press select once you have chosen the region that you want.
Press setup to leave the menu
Press standby to turn the machine off Once you turn the machine back on it will be the
region that you set it for.

Set the macrovision to 1 on the DVD-A980 model to disable macrovision.
With the later DVD-A980 `S` models, the macrovision logic is reversed. i.e. set it to O to disable. One problem you might encounter with the later`S` type is that it likes to revert to macrovision enabled each time you go into standby. (So I hear)
This will only be of annoyance to you if you watch via a VCR or intend to do a great deal of pirating!
The OP PROH is there to enable you skip the FBI warnings
Region can be selected for auto-region (13) or any specific region for RCE discs. Reliability?: Most people I know of get lucky the second time around.

What`s so special about dvd-rw. Record eastenders and play it back at the same quality it was transmitted, wow. Oh I know, record from another dvd player and have no menus to choose your special features from because youve recorded just the image and not the disc. Or maybe you think the quality is as good as a true manufactured disc that is`nt encoded in real time with error correction and motion compnsation to contend with. Do scan have a dvd recorder in the pipe line or will you have to bite the bullit and buy a big brand name like Sony.

I`m also in the trade and I can tell you that at the moment Tosh have serious problems with their high end crt`s but that`s nothing compared to the production problems Phillips are having. I could go on but It is ultimatley, "Pointless".

This is getting boring now......

Sony is better than Scan. A Scan player is a budget machine that looks good when played back on an average tv but does not look good on a high def tv. I`ve spent a couple of hours today with one and it is a tidy player with many features, but when put to the test with Ultimate DVD Platinum it showed it`s true colours, wishy washy, with some minor level of artifacts in detailed scenes. When played through my 5 year old Loewe tv it looked good as the picture is no comparison to Sony`s DRC system.

My mate who brought the Scan over to my pad agrees with this statement and although he loves my Sony equipment, he is very happy with his player.

Friend of mine has just purchased a Scan, god only knows why, and at my request he is bringing it to my pad on Friday so I can hook it up to a KV32FQ75 and see if the player can hold it`s own as far a picture quality goes.

I may post my findings.

Got top of the range tele(KV32FQ75), 2 dvd players((735 & 7700)1 modded), and a 5.1 amp all SONY. Have 250+ discs(R.1,2&3) and not a single problem at all.

Not perfect but the closest you`ll get.

Notice I have not mentioned Scan in the same sentence as the above brand, that`s because it`s below it.

And again Bear has spoken wisely. Once you`ve farted around with the Scam you may as well bought a top brand player.
