RE: Liteon LVW-5025

The 2730 code only applies to some models - not it seems the 5025. On the LiteOn site, go to the Customer service section and click on Recordable Player, and that FAQ is the one with the better instructions. The entry about firmware version is as clear as mud, so here`s what I found on my brand new 5025 (latest toy).

When you press the Setup key, there should be a serial number in white at the bottom of the screen. Mine looks like xxxx-xxxx-nnnn-xxxx (xxxx-xxxx). In this, the nnnn gives the version number of the firmware (0018 in my case). If yours is less than 0018, you could do with upgrading it. Go to the downloads section, select the latest version of the firmware (currently 018R8-UK for me in the UK), download it, unzip it, and burn it onto a CD or DVD as a normal file - it`s not an ISO image. Then give the CD/DVD to the 5025 and, hopefully it will offer to update the firmware. Just follow the instructions then.

Hope this helps. :)

RE: Liteon 5025 (delete timer recording)

It`s not obvious what it means on the screen, but there`s a `recycle` or `bin-it` button at the left hand end of each entry in the Timer Record Menu. Click on that and it deletes the timer entry. In the manual on page 53, it says that the button `Indicates the function of canceling Timer Program. Press to clear settings`.

I found this out by accident - I just prodded it and lost a timer entry - only then did I read the manual. :)
