I would email their head office and explain. Can`t find details of an argos "price promise" on their website, but if they have got such a thing, it`d definitely fall into that (I know a lot of stores would give you the difference back, Apple definitely do when they drop prices, I`m pretty sure John Lewis do, you would think a respectable company like argos would too)

The other option is to check what freebies you get with your credit card/bank account. This might not be relevant to you, but your bank or credit card may very well offer the same option if argos tell you where to go (and from this article sounds like he didn`t try or had no luck with argos):
