RE: HDMI DVD Player with 5.01 Surround Sound = £40 Tevion DVD-8000
Hi Glenfidd,
Thanks for the offer. I got a friend of mine to solder me a USB port and it works like magic. He has a much steadier hand than I and of course if it went wrong id have someone to shout at but as it was it worked. This player has been a really good buy.

Brave glenfidd! After reading your post I think im going to give it a try too - £40 isnt a huge amount to lose if it goes t**s up and if it goes well then a usb port would be very handy.
RE: £25 worth of money-saving coupons from Tesco
Ive just tried it - cardking is right - it takes less than a minute!
RE: Jellybeans are go.. go go go

I bought this player last week. I managed to get change the output picture to HD even though I dont have a HD screen (im using a LCD monitor standard def.) so to the guy who was trying - im sure it is possible. Of course I have switched my setting back as no use having HD output with no HD screen.
To the guy above trying to play Divx - I have used many Divx movies on it and its fine - however it will not play HD resolution divx files (of which a lot of new tv stuff is).
I download some firmware from here: http://www.dv-rec.de/download/firmware/player/index.shtml
I downloaded the Version alf6u. I put the CD in, turned the player on and it said if I wanted to upgrade the firmware - I said yes. It then said `Do not turn player off` and was like that for two hours. I decided to go for it and restarted the player - totally dead! I had killed it. I took it back to Aldi who replaced it no questions asked but I thought id share this in case any of you want to try it - beware! However maybe I was just unlucky.
This player also plays Nero Digital.
Finally - there is a hack on the net to add USB sockets to this player - im going to give it a miss as dont want another dead player but maybe its usefull for any dare devils out there.
